Game Thread: Twins @ As, 5/31 9:05pm

I was reminded last thread of my Grandpa, he once asked me "What is the most important part of a car?"

I forget my response, probably i said something like the wheels... He set me straight as follows: "The starter is the most important part of a car, 'cause if that doesn't work, all you got is a 2 ton paper weight."

What that has to do with the Twins season so far is left as an exercise to the reader...

I got nothing against the Coliseum. I actually been there.

But ya gotta leave the audience wanting more. Even if it is someone else on stage...

So without further ado...

If I we're making the decision, I'd have Buxton carry the boulder up the mountain and bat him lead off. The kid gloves need to come off to a certain extent and we batted him 9th when he up here before and that didn't work for Jack ****. Try something different… mix it up.

Good intro Sample! I hope I'm not game threadin' long into the night. Caught my first bad head cold of the year...

Went to my friend's baby boy's 1st bday over the weekend. The baby had a cold from the other germ infested kids at daycare, and I offered to hold him for a bit while they played host. While holding him, he coughed/spit up right on my face. I knew it was game over after that.

Well, I gotta admit, I'm not liking the Buxton move.  I hope I eat these words, but...

Anyhow-  HAW HAW HAW!!!  The Sox are losin'!   AGAIN!

HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW!!!!!

It ain't such a bad day.

Well I see Dozier is holding on to the 2 spot. Probably due to the amazing success achieved since those well publicized extra BP sessions. :). Now if Park can just keep his head above Suzukis spot, this lineup is going to mash! :). In you ur grandpas day he should have been able to roll it down a hill in second, and dropped the clutch, assuming he didn't live in ND? :).

Ahhh, the night games on the coast.

Long ago memories of the smuggled transistor hidden under the pillow, with the surreptitious ear phone in the pillow-side ear, and feigning restful sleep.   And that late, sometimes could get a Twin Cities station, with the actual pre-game show, and post-game, too, if you were still awake.  All those exotic sounding ads in between for things that City People buy, instead of the fertilizer promos and livestock prices during the inning breaks, and no post-game, cuz we gotta rush right into the farm report...

Signal fading in and out while the Twinks battled the California Angels, (or Seattle Pilots!), and nodding off sometime around the 5th or so with that giant earplug cracking away.

And now, at my desk in bloody Hong Kong, catching a gambling-site feed from Vladivostok.

Tempora mutantur, Jack.  Tempus fugit, too.

It's Riverbrian's fault. Guilt by association.

You can bypass the starter if it's a manual transmission.

Even on an automatic it's not quite a 2 ton paper weight. As long as the battery works it's at least a 2 ton stereo.

Without the battery it really is a paper weight, so I'd go with that.

I'm playing tennis tonight so will miss the first hour or so of the game. But since I don't have to be to work until 11 tomorrow I can stay up and watch the end of the game while baking cookies for my favorite third nephew. :)

Aww ChiTown, you don't have to bake cookies for me! While we're on the topic, what kind of cookies are we talking about?

I only liked this post because it made laugh

I didn't like it because you have a cold... I simply enjoyed the way you got the cold.

Clutch popping did feature somewhere amongst the all the ins and outs in old duder's head.

So thanks for bringing it up.

But in the end i was just too lazy to draw parallels...

Thanks for filling in my gaps.

He was the soundtrack of Summer

I too enjoyed listening to strange and exotic radio stations late at night on my little blue hand crank flashlight radio. If it was dark in time, i could barely get wbbm from chicago with old time radio...

I had a 2 ton paper weight once. Had to get rid of it because I couldn't read what was on the paper anymore.

I noticed that. The exit ramps have signs that say "Scenic Overlook"
