Hrbowski Verified Member Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Things to think about: Texas - Texas is one of the best baseball states in the country, with only California and Florida having more active Major League Baseball players, and compared to Minnesota's measly 6 native born players the 69 from Texas are quite a lot. Baseball is not the most interesting aspect of Texas, because they have rednecks, which by definition is a working class white person, especially a politically reactionary one. Rednecks like things big, and they especially like big guns, which is why big, bullet throwing pitchers come out of Texas. Exciting teams that do bad - This is something that the Twins and Astros both are, so what they should try to do is become boring teams that do good. I actually do not know if there is such a thing, except the Yankees doing good. Unwanted Ramifications - Once upon a time a former Minnesota Twin got mad, and well he was trying to vent his anger he accidentally hurt his star teammate: The moral of the story? Watch your posting. Entropy - Entropy is a thermodynamic quantity representing the unavailability of a system's thermal energy for conversion into mechanical work, often interpreted as the degree of disorder or randomness in the system. This got me wondering, is there anyway to measure disorder in baseball? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmXacL0Uny0 Lineups: TWINSDanny Santana(S) CFBrian Dozier(R ) 2BJoe Mauer(L) DHMiguel Sano(R ) RFTrevor Plouffe(R ) 3BByung-ho Park(R ) 1BOswaldo Arcia(L) LFJohn Ryan Murphy(R ) CEduardo Nunez(R ) SS Phil Hughes P ASTROSJose Altuve(R ) 2BGeorge Springer(R ) RFCarlos Correa(R ) SSColby Rasmus(L) LFCarlos Gomez(R ) CFPreston Tucker(L) DHMarwin Gonzalez(S) 1BLuis Valbuena(L) 3BJason Castro(L) C Mike Fiers P Game-time forecast: 81 deg F, clear and sunny, no chance of rain, winds from the NW at 10mph.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 We've got some power in the lineup tonight. Let's score a bunch.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Everything's bigger in TX.. The food, the state flag, the margaritas... You name it. The More You Know: BBQ is everywhere down here, and it's no different at Minute Maid Park. Baby back ribs, brisket, chopped beef... One of their new offerings this year is a Guoda stuffed meatball on top of Mac and cheese... How amazing does that sound?
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 I hid the other one, lets use this game thread. Sorry to those who posted in the other! And ... Please ... Lets try to stay away from vitriol in the game threads. Don't like something? Fine, have your say. But don't attack other posters, and lets leave discussion of long term issues to those threads. If you absolutely feel the need to blast someone, blast my choice of joke(s). You'll be wrong, of course, and demonstrate to EVERYone you lack my highly evolved sense of humor, but nobody will take offense. Lets get a W tonight.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I got a round of golf in this afternoon with Halsey. As we were standing on the 18 th tee, he was taking forever. Checking the wind, checking his alignment, agonizing over club selection, rechecking the wind. "Halsey, lets go," I said. "Mrs Chief is waiting for us in the clubhouse. I gotta get going." "I know," said Halsey. "That's her standing on the deck, watching us, isn't it? I want this last shot to be perfect." "Yeah, that's her, Halsey. But you're dreaming. You"ll never hit her from here."

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Park currently has a home run every 10.85 AB's.

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 As far as baseball entropy is concerned, you may be better off trying to estimate the Kolmogorov Complexity. Which you can measure as the length of the shortest computer program that can produce all of baseball as an output. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kolmogorov_complexity I'd start with Tom Kelly.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I would not take Chief's threats too lightly, rumor has it he was very instrumental for the fiery end of Joan of Arc.True ... but I've learned a trick or two in my reincarnation.

I have to ask you to please refrain from using "Fire or Fiery" or any similar words until the Houston Starting Pitcher is removed from the game. Thank You... Now you may continue on with your incredible style.

I just got that from your post last game and did the math . My enthusiasm just got the better of me. Not too much to cheer for so far this year lol
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Enthusiasm getting the better of you is a good thing. You don't get invited to many parties but overall it's a good thing.
