The Twins may need to switch sponsors from West Bend Silver lining to Washburn McReavy Funeral chapels like Gopher football. Play to the audience that's left.

agree, though not because god will help us mount a comeback tonight, but it also sets Perk up for a day off tomorrow, and then available for the home opener Monday.

This is your Silver Linings moment.

The Twins should've traded Perkins back before the rest of the league realized how overrated he is.

You know he is from MN right. It would take multiple felonies I imagine.

Right.

Throwing behind a guy in the opposite batters box is pretty odd. Guess he did need to shake out the rust.

wait I'm confused. Did he throw behind the batter, or behind the guy in the on deck circle? :)

(don't answer that; I saw the pitch)

This is beyond painful to watch, but so was the start of last season.

But we were used to them sucking then.    Also, no Sano or Buxton.

Whoa whoa whoa,  slow down, son.   Next thing you know you'll be telling some crazy story about it wasn't just talent that got Toby Gardenhire a September callup.

6'4" 225 chinaman, good lord. Imagine how far he must have towered over everyone else. I know, not the acceptable, um, nomenclature.

It's a... real... problem... that Perkins is sitting 91-92 today.

It's his first appearance so I can't rail on him too hard but he can't close games at that velocity.

He hasn't been able to close games for about 9-10 months now.

TR will notice sometime in 2017. Then, Casey Fien will get his shot because "he's a bulldog, and you need that mentality."

Good lord it's chein Ming wang

Yes, and full of monosodium glutamate, by the look of it.

Well, the twins make some negative history. Never thought they'd start so poorly. Tomorrow is another day.

This game has been brutal but it was the first brutal game of the season.

This line sums up the Twins' season thus far:

Twins, 7 hits, 0 runs

Royals, 10 hits, 7 runs

This team was bad tonight but damn, they cannot buy a break right now.

I think the bullpen not being able to get anyone out, ever, has something to do with it.

Or, the complete inability of about 7 of the 9 to make contact with a pitch from a live human being.

I think bad luck has almost nothing to do with it. Balancing that out in the Twins favor might mean 1-4.

This is a bad baseball team.

This is a bad baseball team.

They have an OPS around .400 with RISP and an OPS around .800 with the bases empty.

That's bad luck.

Yeah, this team has problems, I'm not disputing that... But they should probably be 2-3 right now with normalized luck.

Eric Fryer just got a hit, with RISP, late in the game. We didn't need him.

Have we descended to the point where we think Eric Fryer is a good baseball player?

Come on, people. Yeah, tonight's game was horrible. Absolutely horrible.

Now step away from the ledge and regain your sanity. Stop talking like crazy people.

Looking like a long April.

Should make a nice bookend to December...

A long December and there's reason to believe

Maybe this year will be better than the last...

Unfortunately history doesn't always repeat itself.  That's not to say things can't turn around but remember except for an amazing May the Twins weren't a very good team.

No, they were a few games under .500... Which is why most of the rational people on Twins Daily predicted between 75-85 wins for this team.

This isn't a bad team. It isn't a great team. It's a middling team with the potential to be better, it's just a matter of realizing that potential.

And five games isn't going to make or break that potential.

This 0-5 start might mean the team is going to win 75 games this season. Or it could kick them in the ass and propel them to being much better because it forces roster moves many of us wanted to see (to varying degrees) out of Spring Training.

Time will tell.

I have to say, not being able to see these games seeks like a blessing so far. Just hiked in 65 degree weather, mt Rainer looming....

Just be careful it doesn't go all Vesuvius on you while you are on it!

Don't give up the ship--Nolasco is coming!

Cue the string quartet...

This was said with tongue firmly planted in cheek.
