Forget Torii, let's go after Bautista

Bautista's a free agent after the postseason. I have no knowledge if he will even test the market or just resign with the Blue Jays. If he does become a free agent, would you sign him? If so, how much?

The armchair GM in me would offer 2 years $34 million.

Toronto has a $14M team option on Bautista for 2016. He's not going to be on the market, and even if he were, $34 million would come nowhere close to getting it done.

If you want to discuss adding an elite power bat to the Twins lineup this offseason via free agency, Chris Davis would be the name to ponder.

1,000x this. Toronto will likely extend him this off-season anyways.

If he were a hypothetical free agent, he would at least get 4 years/88 million. I actually could see the Bluejays offering him something close to that this off-season. Maybe 4/80 million.

My top two "bats" to target are Davis or Puig.

A lineup with either looks pretty sexy.

How good would a Sano/Davis combo look in the 3&4 or 4&5 slots.  Then, we just need Kepler or perhaps Rosario to step-up and take over the 3 hole.  As long as we are dreaming.  How about if Arcia makes a comeback?

Buxton / Rosario / Kepler / Sano / Davis / Dozier / Arcia / Mauer / Escobar

No love for Hicks?

So you want to put a player with a with a .289 OBP in the 2 hole? I don't understand putting Mauer at the bottom of the lineup...He's the top OBP player on the Twins (not including Sano because he only played half the season). Mauer should be hitting 2nd in every game next season. To START the season the lineup should be: Hicks, Mauer, Dozier, Sano, Davis (If the Twins sign him, if not Plouffe), Rosario, Hunter, Suzuki and Escobar.

Hopefully by mid season the lineup would be: Buxton, Mauer, Dozier, Sano, Davis, Rosario, Hicks, Suzuki and Escobar. With Hunter, Arcia, backup catcher not currently on the team and Nunez or Santana as the bench. Kepler will hopefully be the first person called up for any injury.

Dave, I am always rooting for the break-out candidates so I am really happy to see Hicks finally put it together.  He is great right-handed and would be a candidate to hit in front of or behind Sano against LH pitching.  Now I am rooting for Rosario.  I got a man crush on him when I watched the Championship game of the Arizona Fall League.  He will need to develop a lot more discipline but that's what I meant by him stepping up.  His OBP is not adequate to hit 2nd or 3rd and pitchers are going to abuse him if he does not make them throw over the plate.  He drives me a little crazy right now.  Maybe I am too optimistic but I think he could become a 3 hole hitter once he learns to be more selective.

BTW ... I also did not include him because I think there is a good chance he gets traded at some point.  He is just too valuable as a CFer.  Mauer is going anywhere so there is not a spot open for Kepler.  Plus, it just makes no sense to me to put a guy with Kepler's athleticism at 1B.  The reports say he can actually play a passable CF.  Why would you put him at 1B if this is true?

Maybe all his positive experiences hitting in Target Field recently will sway him to sign a team friendly deal?

:)

Maybe, but he'd probably figure out a way to get it in his contract that he also gets to face our pitching staff :-)

I hope/want an outfield combo of Rosario, Buxton, Hicks, Arcia and Kepler to be just as sexy in a couple years.

Won't be seeing many texas leaguers dropping in for hits with all five patrolling the outfield. :)

/ OK, Arcia can just stand there someplace and try to catch the ones hit straight to him

I'd settle for a more Blue Jay-like lineup.  Adding both those two would do it.

Davis would be the closest thing to Jim Thome in Target Field.  He's a career .955 OPS hitter here.  Would 5/$105 get it done?

5/105 is a good start. I would do it in a heartbeat.
