Thanks, Skywalker! I really get tired of putting in that stuff ... it was a huge help, and I appreciate it immensely. But 2047? Don't you think you could have given us a game review rather than preview? Seems like common courtesy to help alleviate the stress of the game somewhat ... but oh well ... no worries and welcome to Twins Daily. Here are your five things to think about:

1. Jose Ramirez – I’m pretty generally a fan of the bat flip. If pitchers can come off the mound pumping their fist and swearing into their glove, what’s the matter with a bat flip? But last night Ramirez took it a little too far. Intentionally throwing the bat at the Twins’ dugout? I want to see Kevin Jepsen hurl a 95 mph fastball in the general vicinity of the Indians’ dugout tonight. Well, no, not really, but to me it’s essentially the same. You just don’t do things like that. Did the Twins overreact? Probably. Maybe. But when kids act up, kids get disciplined. Hopefully someone who has a position of authority over you can talk to you about whatever before you disgrace yourself in public, but if you do, expect to be reprimanded. I’m not going to flip out about it, though … come on, you don’t spank umpires either. It happens to the best of us … even the Twins have had young’uns act up. Rod Carew says that you have to have a lot of little boy in you to succeed in the game, and I guess when you get a bunch of 20 to 40-yr-old men together who all have a bit of little boy about them, that’s what you get. It sort of makes the game more enjoyable, almost. But judging by the look on Ramirez’s face when Rosario gave him a few words as he rounded the bases after his homerun in the 9th, I’d have to say that he’s not going to be too happy if Duffey hits him today. I hope he doesn’t … it would be fruitless and only make us look like the Royals this spring. We don’t need that.

2. Trevor Bauer – Bauer is spelled the same way as Mauer with a B. Are Indians fans sick of him yet? I would think so … he’s making his first start after being bumped down to the bullpen for a few weeks thanks to his shaky second half, and on top of that, he hasn’t done well against the Twins this year, allowing 9 runs in just 11 1/3 innings over 3 starts. Or maybe it’s just the Twins that are doing good off of him, but whatever the chemistry, it seems promising.

3. Tyler Duffey – need I say more?? His first start in the majors was a bit unfair. He not only had to deal with the unstable nerves that come naturally with any debut, but was also pitching against an unfairly hot Toronto team. The next time out, however, he faced a not-so-hot Cleveland team and carried a no-hit bid into the 6th before Lindor broke it up with a double. Revenge, Tyler, revenge … if Ramirez can throw his bat at your dugout after hitting a homerun he obviously thought he wasn’t supposed to hit, you can definitely pitch a no-hitter against a team that you probably didn’t think you were supposed to no-hit 6 weeks ago. Only please, if you can’t get the no-no, just don’t let Ramirez break it up. The kid will be so cocky then. But back to the statistical stuff, everybody knows this but I’ll stick it in for posterity: if you could simply write that first start of Duffey’s off of his stats, he’d be 5-0 in 8 starts with a 2.17 ERA and 46 K’s. I think I can live with that … especially since living with that means living with Pelfrey, too. Unfortunately. But I’ve lived in years past where nobody seemed to believe in compensation.

And while you're at it, imagine a game that started with an intentional HBP but was perfect the rest of the way through.

4. Playoffs – I’m still sticking with the “I don’t believe” theme, but the mere fact that we’re this close this late in the season makes it pretty darn enjoyable. Right now we have only 4 games to go and sit 1.5 games back, getting a good look at the license plate of Los Angeles, who sit right outside of the 2nd wildcard spot where Houston is gawking at a slumping Yankees team who are ahead a few games.

5. Gawkers – they're worth thinking about only in the fact that they literally force you to think about them. What do they think, anyway? that it's going to be just like in the movies and they don't want to miss out on the action? How rude ... and rude to the traffic behind them, too. Oh well ... what can I say? I've gawked, too ... as I assume most people have. But these days I make a conscious effort to not look because when you do, you turn your head, and when you turn you head, you slow down, and when you slow down, you start a chain reaction of people looking and turning their heads and slowing down. Not that the person behind isn't going to start it if you don't, but that still doesn't justify it.

If I'm not mistaken, Roy Campanella was saying that to people back around when Rod WAS a little boy.

Wait....this game thread into is about baseball.............I'm confused, what did you do with always33?!  :)

Packed her off to Timbuctoo, ne'er to return.

Duffey better not beam Ramirez in the head and get ejected before he can even get an out. Then our bullpen gets to pitch the whole game, and one of our best starters doesn't get to pitch.

I know that's not going to happen, but still...

The two guys who lost their **** last night the most were Molitor and Suzuki. The manager and the catcher, the two guys that literally tell the pitcher what to throw. While I think it's unlikely, I don't think its impossible. Especially if the Twins take an early 3-0 lead, I wouldn't put it past them having Duffey throwing at him (I really, really, really hope I am wrong) Molitor has proven to be "old school" already as a manager.

They can't lose tonight.  These just arrived in my mailbox!

FYI, you shouldn't post the full barcode, a scammer can use that image and "digitially" copy it and sell it via stub hub or another third party.

Dozier is 0 for his last 15, and his OBP is down to .309.  By all means, bat him leadoff in a must-win game.

Whatcha gonna do?

Hicks' OBP in the last 20 games is .293.

These are the cards we have been dealt.

Anything that gets Sano to the 3rd spot is fine by me.

Hicks has cooled off quite a bit as well.

I'd go with Buxton--2 hits in each of his last 3 starts.  Maybe Escobar, .327 OBP in September.

Long time, no posts. Hope you've all been enjoying this run by the Twins. It's been fun.

I think I just ran out of things to say although I did lurk around a bit.

Hicks on 1st. No outs. Let's do some scoring here.

When I was in school in Ohio in the early '80's the Cleveland fans I knew used to refer to Indian Summer. It's a season that begins when the team is eliminated from the post season. This year it arrived last night when the Astros won. Back in those years it used to arrive around Labor Day.
