Hrbowski Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Phil Hughes is pitching for the Twins, but I'm not going to say who is pitching for the opponent, because I don't want to type any naughty words on the internet today. Weather: Changing. We are having a preliminary vote for the TDGTHOF, the top five vote getters will move on to the final round. My nominees: Riverbrian - Game Threads wouldn't be around if Riverbrian wasn't around, this mutualism is similar to that of a Blind Shrimp and a Goby, because Twins Daily benefits from his intros, and Riverbrian benefits from the entertainment that USAFCheif, Gibby, Bark's Lounge, etc. provide. twinsnorth49 - This Canadian has educated us, especially on how horrible Toronto is, and it had us wondering if it was worse than that bumptious little town off the coast of New Jersey that they call New York, and had us all glad that he didn't fall prey to those degenerate creatures of darkness, also known as Toronto Blue Jay fans. sampleSizeOfOne - Contrary to his name we have been given a large sample, and both he and we must like it, because he has been one of the most active GT posters this season, and for the most part they have been right up there with Riverbrian's, but not quite. SwainZag - Swain has been very positive, which is a plus, and gave us six thoughts, which makes our mental facilities a little more active going into the GT, but I am unsure whether that is a good or bad thing. Brock Beauchamp & DaveW - I am pairing these two together since they weren't the usual kind, and I can only have 20 choices in the poll, Brock was a thief and stole it from me, but it ended up being a very good GT, and DaveW, who was going by a different name at the time, had an interesting intro that was rather humorous. Here is your quote of the day:"Always go to other people’s funerals, otherwise they won’t come to yours." - Yogi Berra etc. etc. etc. Go Twins! http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/5/files/2015/06/tim-welke-mike-everitt-jason-kipnis-terry-francona-mlb-st.-louis-cardinals-cleveland-indians-850x560.jpg
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Well, game threads might not be what they are today without Brian, but my history of game threads showed that they have been around since the beginning of this site, so your point about Brian isn't exactly accurate. However, Brian is Brian and no one can do it like him. He will always have my vote.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Looking like 80-90% chance of thunderstorms all night. Going to be tough to get this one in.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 More Yogi... "My wife asked me where I wanted to be buried. I told her, 'Surprise me.' "

It's not that this specific post stands out so much, but I would like it 10,000 times if I could just because of who you voted for. :')
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 We are having a preliminary vote for the TDGTHOF, the top five vote getters will move on to the final round. Not sure I approve of fan voting for this - it is going to devolve into a popularity contest and people are going to ignore the merits and skills of the writer. Plus certain bloggers are going to have fan blocks will will flood the voting system. Plus are we supposed to ignore that some (or all) of the writers may have completed their work with some assistance from a banned substances (or does that actually work in their favor)? . That Yogi quote was perfect.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I'm just hoping that list is 3 times as long next year ... HINT, HINT, HINT ... to all those who read and/or participate in game threads and didn't volunteer this year.
formerly33 Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 When I do my last series this year, I think I'm going to have to make a list twice as long then with people who I think would do an awesome job on a game thread.
Platoon Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I think we need more polls like this! There are several possible categories. To wit:1. Best jokes.2. Musical knowledge. 3. Geographic expertise. 4. Sophomoric humor.5. Most likely to determine all is lost after a loss.6. Quickest to purchase playoff tickets after a win.7. Worst jokes. 8. Fastest GIF.9. Oddest pet stories. 10. And since this is after all TDGT, the least important category of all! Overall baseball acumen!
James Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I had to vote for everyone. I know it doesn't help, but I thought everyone did a great job. Now everyone has a participation trophy. Thank you to everyone who have made these game threads happen.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Interesting... I think I'll take on more game threads next season, as I definitely enjoyed writing the two I did. Anyways, the Twins need to take down Kluber today! Just pretend he's Sale and we're good!

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 11. Longest game thread I don't know ... Ash might be able to challenge with his epic about the Gardy boys.

But I'm not voting for him - to be fair to the others who are just as talented in their own way.

We don't want him to start to think he is indispensable and go for a bigger piece of the TD profits.
formerly33 Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I don't know ... Ash might be able to challenge with his epic about the Gardy boys. Not so. formerly33 Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I see that I remain at the disgraceful number of 1. Is self-campaigning allowed on this forum?

I appreciate that I am even considered for this honor considering I only wrote for 2 games this whole season.. And in regards to your question, does Deep Eddy's vodka count as a banned substance for writing game threads??
Platoon Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I see that I remain at the disgraceful number of 1. Is self-campaigning allowed on this forum? Allowed, but highly frowned upon!

Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I'm not voting because it isn't fair to the others, everyone already knows that Brian is the Homecoming Queen/King. However, I'd like to thank everyone, great job! Have a beer and put it on Brian's tab.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 We reached out to Brian to comment on this pending award, and he sent in a video!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rl_NpdAy3WY
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 By the way, happy Autumnal Equinox. I plan to follow the ancient Druidic ceremony; drink wine, eat pie, take naps.
amjgt Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 If they start the game, then they will finish it. If they pussyfoot around waiting for a window where they KNOW they aren't going to get rain for an hour, then we'll see you tomorrow night.

amjgt Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I think we should start the game with, like, Boyer or something, then after 2 innings, when it starts sprinkling, we suspend the game. No more Kluber. Blame Sven Sundgaard and move on.
kydoty Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 My brother and I will be going to tonight's game and tomorrow's, which all but guarantees they'll be out of contention by the end of this week because they never win when I am there.
