The animals are farting?

I just ... can't ... let ... that ... go.

Hat tip, Geoffrey Chaucer. Miller's Tale. There was a line somewhere in there like, "Twas spring, unt all die animels vas ferting," some weird middle english fart joke reference to mating season.

A little over a week ago I cautiously predicted that the Twins would go 18-20 to finish the season.

As of today, we need to win 12 of 30 to hit that mark. I'm still not calling playoffs, but ... we're not disgracing ourselves!

Awesome pitching performance tonight.  That's EXACTLY what we need to see from our starters.  Thank God Plouffe got that big hit because I was about to toss a pillow if they'd have left the bases loaded in that situation.  Finish the job tomorrow and keep this momentum train moving.

A lot of guys stepped up big time in this game.  Sano, of course, Bux working that walk in a big spot, Zuke had some good battles at the plate, and wow, wasn't it cool to see OUR BP actually shut someone down.  But Milone-  wow, what a game.  Dick made a comment that he had the right ump back there for his kind of pitches, but he took it and ran with it.  He gets my #1 star.

And Poof gets my #1A-  for a guy who's been in a horrendous slump, (and man, was I fragged seeing him in the 3 hole tonight!), he picked himself up off the mat.  That play at 3B was outstanding, and to get that hit in that tough situation, especially the way he's been struggling-  awesome.

Hawk said something a while back, I think in a print article rather than a game, about how much he loves Poof--  something to the effect that, if he looks himself in the mirror one day, and says, I can get it done, believes in himself, he's a 40-HR, 100 RBI guy--

So, once again, I'm grateful for the chicken dinnah, with a side of my own words--

OH, I forgot-  low star of the game-  Joe Vavra, for sending Buxton when we could have had 2nd and 3rd and Sano at the plate.  W  T  F.

Combining farts with literary classics is a rare talent, indeed, my friend.  Too rare indeed.

Its Gene Glynn and they would have walked Sano and then we would have had Hunter up, i thought it was worth the gamble, he had to get a bad jump, stumble or think for a second that there was only 1 out, he should have been right behind Suzuki, being he is that much faster than Zuke.

I send Buxton there every time. Two outs, and I don't care who is up next. The chances of two good throws are much lower than the chance he scores if you hold him.

Ian Kennedy just struck out his 12th batter for the Padres.  Padres up on Rangers 3-2, going to the 8th.  6 outs until the Twins are back tied for the 2nd WC spot

Just musing on the Berrios thing.  I know, they don't want to call him up for the service time factor, which makes sense in the longer term.

However-  ask the White Sox, the Mariners, the Padres, and others-  they thought, with the personnel they had, that they would contend this year for sure.  The Twinks think, with a full season of Sano, and hopefully, Buxton with more of a clue at the plate, and Berrios in May, that they will contend, too.  Point being-- nothing is certain between the lines.  When you have the chance, when you're in contention, that's when you have to get it done.  Next year?  Looks good, maybe great even, for playoffs chances.  But---  that's what they thought in SSide Chicago, Seattle, San Diego, and other places...

I think they should have called him up.

And as I type this-  Kimbrel, closer extraordinaire, has loaded the bases with 1 out in the 9th.  Not what SD fans were thinking.
