Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Speaking of 9 to 5. Everyone (everyone) always (always) refers to "day jobs" as "9 to 5." But (but) whoever actually has worked from 9 to 5? I (me) have always worked (in those circumstances) from 8 to 5.These ladies.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 Person, place, or thing?Yes... (or is it okay if i don't adhere strictly to the rules of 20 questions) It is a literary reference from a long series (7 books last i checked) by an extraordinarily prolific author. Slightly oblique... as it referred originally to something which wasn't batting.
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 My take... It's lively and repetitive. (I was noticing it too, but didn't place it until ya named it) We used to play it in pep band. I am not sure if many high schools would play a song about a high school centerfold now days.

But (but) whoever actually has worked from 9 to 5? I (me) have always worked (in those circumstances) from 8 to 5. I've never worked 9 to 5 or 8 to 5. My work schedule has always been more than 40 hours. Whenever needed... I'm there... When Not... I can be gone.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Post it. And if it goes awry, it's on you. That's why i'm waiting til the end.
d-mac Verified Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 So the Tigers actually did sign Neftali Feliz? Somebody on here predicted it. Why we didn't attempt to sign I don't know, probably strikes out too many batters for TR. Now we get to watch him dominate the Twins.

My guess is that it was cheap to license. I remember I think it was in the 70's, that MLB ran a long series of ads set to Vivaldi's Mandolin Concerto in C-Major. Cannot find any the ads anywhere.

d-mac Verified Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 It used to be Boxing was the Sport to be followed. That has progressed to Ultimate Fighting probably being bigger than Boxing. It's obvious that Hunger Games type stuff is next. UFC is just awful. It attracts d-bags like flies to you know what.

As long as it has a good beat and a catchy melody. The lyrics never matter. Blues Traveler in the song Hook said... "It doesn't matter what I Sing as long as I sing with inflection. If it's got a catchy beat... You could sing "My Grandmother killed my Grandmother... One to prison and to the ground with the other" BTW... I just wrote that... No Copyright on it yet... So any of you musicians can steal it.

But I hadn't heard anything connecting him to the Twins. We need people in the pen that can get K's and it's such a low risk signing, I have no idea why we wouldn't go out and pick him up.

d-mac Verified Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Like Flys to NASCAR? Last time I checked not too many Nascar fans wear Affliction t-shirts, gold chains, and neck tattoos.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Hmmm... Eggs Ackley Loudon Wainwright III proved it

gil4 Verified Member Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 The J. Geils Band usually fires me up. Prefer the 70's J. Geils to the 80's but yeah... they fire me up. Here's a little post-game dance music : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBXAzVN7PYg

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 12, 2015 Author Posted July 12, 2015 Bigger than a softball?I missed that... (or the edit, i wasn't payin' attention.)um... hard to say with a literary quote. Book it is in? Probably. But if you read it by kindle, perhaps not. And i feel okay leavin' it be, as the phrase "forgotten the face of his father" on google brings it up pretty quick. And as for movie, there's a fan made short film on youtube i just watched with the quote in it. So i guess i was wrong there...
