That. Just. Happened.

What a win! Second most fun Twins game I have ever been to.

You can't help but feel that could be a really pivotal game for the rest of this season. Especially if they follow it up the next two days.

Unbelievable.

Sort of like that Thome HR against the white sox....but possibly bigger?

That was enough to get me temporarily out of hibernation!  Been a fun team to follow this year!  Certainly wasn't expecting the season we've been enjoying so far :)

Lot of heroes tonight: Santana with a huge base hit, hicks for an amazing at bat, dozier...obviously, and how about Graham, Orourke and May for keeping it scoreless after Santana left?

You youngsters won't remember, but the only thing this comes close to this is the Killebrew homer against the Yankees in the last game before the All-Star break in 1969 I think. That game was the send off for the remainder of the year. Wow! Just effing awesome!

Ok - so this win was a little special:

.@Twins beat Detroit after trailing 6-1 in the 9th inning.

Teams trailing by 5+ in the 9th were previously 0-1,057 over the past 2 seasons.

As a Danny Santana guy- huge hit for a guy that I bet everyone watching was hoping would get pinch hit for.

Molitor must have huge round ones- he was certainly setting himself up to get second guessed!

I recall a win over the Brewers in the 90's that was from 6 or 7 down in the 9th and one against Cleveland from ~2000. But neither of those were in a pennant race against a team chasing you.

When a young team starts to believe...watch out world.

This was reminiscent of the 1983 Twins, when a bunch of young stars started pulling off improbable victories.

How good can these guys be?

It was '65 and started a real swoon for the Yanks. Propelled the Twins to their first pennant in Minnesota.

Someone gets hurt or bows out of All-Star Game and #voteDozier gets in right? Baseball Gods, anyone.

Agreed. I don't care if the player who bows out is a pitcher, catcher, outfielder or infielder. If someone who isn't their club's only representative isn't going to play, Yost and the league have to name Brian Dozier.

Dave ... I commend you on your choice of game attendance. Henceforward you shall make all future arrangements when it comes to mine ... let's see, any time in late August / early September should work. PM me for more details, i.e. pricing/seating, etc. I'm willing to give big bucks to see another win like that live from the ballpark.

BTW, the Twins victory Friday night means that they will at least be the second Wild Card team as they hit the All-Star break. They are 2.5 clear of all non-leaders as of tonight.

Two other big at-bats of note: Rosario's opposite field single and Hicks' walk. Both were in 0-2 holes but fought back.

Kent Hrbek in the run-up to Opening Day this year, dated April 4, 2015.  You could look it up:

...Hrbek will greet fans at the Twins' Target Field opener against Kansas City at Gate 14.

As for the Twins' outlook, Hrbek said, "I've never been a big proponent that if you pitch, you win," he said. "I know Tom Kelly has stressed that. It helps. But if your pitchers pitch, you've got to be able to win 1-0, or 5-4.

"But there's nothing wrong with winning 8-6, either."

Folks, we may be on the start of a magical run, here, ala 87 or 91.
