B Richard Provisional Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Well... Jackson/Gordon/Nola take your pick. I'm almost positive we are going to pass on Jackson, which is pretty upsetting. The importance of the hit tool cannot be understated. I trust the Twins have thoroughly scouted these guys, though
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 34scubs to take kyle schwarber, indiana c-of Jon Heyman called this one for the Cubs even before his tweet in his mock. Now, who's it going to be.....?
70charger Verified Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Schwarber just got comped to Kubel. So there's that.
Dance with Disco Dan Provisional Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 We are set up to disappoint 2/3 of this board. The Gordons vs. Jacksons vs. Nola/Newcombs. The Twins cannot win the majority tonight. I'd like one of the bats.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 Schwarber just got comped to Kubel. I LOLed.
B Richard Provisional Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Consensus on twitter, and the universe in general, is Gordon to the Twinkies
drock2190 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Man the Cubs are gonna have one heck of lineup if they take Schwarber But who was pitching?
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Schwarber just got comped to Kubel. So there's that. Unless they comp Jackson to Doumit, I hope the Twins take serious consideration on him before they decide on Gordon.
B Richard Provisional Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Baseball America @BaseballAmerica 52sFlorida HS SS Nick Gordon to Twins at No. 5 is as stable as any predraft scuttlebutt has been.
Twins Twerp Provisional Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 My sources are telling me Newcomb...
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Well, since I posted this idea months ago, I clearly approve.....
InfraRen Provisional Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 LOVE IT. Now grab a high-ceiling arm in round two.
70charger Verified Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Awesome! I'm all for getting the shortstop of the future!
2wins87 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I'm happy with it. Took me a little while to come around on him but the scouting reports only seemed to get better as the draft approached. I'm hoping for a high upside HS arm in the second round.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I really like this guy - seems like a nice young man. Good character.
InfraRen Provisional Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I like the kid. (Reacting to interview.)
B Richard Provisional Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Slightly preferred Jackson there but you can't be upset taking a talent like Gordon. Very excited for that young man's future.
InfraRen Provisional Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Darren Wolfson @DarrenWolfsonRepeat from this morning: Radcliff & Johnson saw Gordon over 10 times each. #MNTwins in total saw him more than any team. They LOVE him.
ScottyB Verified Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Another Levi Michael! Just kidding - a great pick!
jimv2 Provisional Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Count me in the happy third. I'm all for BPA, but when it's not clear who that it--i.e. it's essntailly tied--then take whoever is part of that tie that fills the biggest need. And looking ahead, SS is our biggest need.

30whales Verified Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 So where does he rank in our system? Also, what are some comps?
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Another Levi Michael! Just kidding - a great pick! We've got our DP combo of the future now.
B Richard Provisional Member Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 How aggressive we are with our 2nd round pick will determine a lot of what I feel about this draft.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 We've got our DP combo of the future now. That would require one of them to get on base first. *drops mic*
