Can we make a tad bit fewer sarcastic comments in here please?

Yes. We can.

(Don't know if we will, but i'll do what i can...)

8-4, bottom of the 8th... We want to score 6 runs in 4 outs... But i guess 4 runs in 6 outs will do too.

Deduno out for a fourth inning. Potentially stretching him out for a spot in the rotation or just saving the bullpen for game two?

How about both? Killing two birds with one stone as it were.

Jokes are one thing, but multiple sarcastic comments in a row are another. Especially when you constantly post sarcastic comments about the players, FO, etc.

the offense has been good enough today to win. Nothing about that is sarctastic, I really believe that.

Remember when you could get comparable starters Jason Hammel, Roberto Hernandez, Chris Capuano, Aaron Harang, Colby Lewis, Ryan Voglesong, Edinson Volquez and Paul Maholm signed to one year deals?

Man those were the good old days.

Twins starters' ERA over 6 even before Pelfrey's gem today, a full run higher than the next highest in the AL. Hughes has 26 K's, rest of rotation 48. K's per 9 will fall below 5.00 after this game's stats are included, and the next lowest in MLB is 6.43, with an AL average of 7.58.

So it might be a little while longer until the Twins rotation juggernaut's competitive advantage created by exploitation of the pitch-to-contact market inefficiency forces the commissioner's hand and results in some rule changes...

Deduno's almost surely done today. So...

Pelfrey: 4 IP, 7 hits, 5 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO, 85 pitches.

Deduno: 4 IP, 7 hits, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO, 62 pitches.

Closer than I'd like but I don't see how you start Pelfrey five days from now.

I'm sure most people won't see it.

I can think of, like, 11,000,000 reasons why the persons responsible for signing MP to a two year deal would want to cross their fingers, send him out there again, and hope for the best.

Not saying he should get another shot or that the money should be a factor, but it's hard to see the Twins ignoring that aspect altogether.

And if they need to rationalize it they can blame today's performance on crappy cold weather and defensive miscues. LA's defensive miscues, if necessary. Too long between innings for MP.

Just got back from the game. Thank goodness they installed those heaters that emit heat because I might have become frozen. I keep ending up going to Pelfrey's starts and they've all been bad. Who's idea was it to give him a 2 year extension? Ugh. I have more reasons not to go to any more Twins games.

These lines seem pretty different to me, especially if you focues on strikeouts and # of pitches. If Deduno had been starting all year and had that line after 4 innings you'd expect to get another 2 innings out of him. If he doesn't give up any runs in those two innings you've got a quality start. Pelfrey's line on the other hand just looks awful.

Of course assuming another two run-free innings from Deduno is optimistic, but his line doesn't look awful to me, just kinda bad.

Dude. Phil Hughes is striking out 8.4 per 9.

Either my joke wasn't funny, my sarcasm wasn't obvious, or something is wrong with me. I don't expect a response on this.

Like I said in a different post, I really like the way Hughes is pitching.

A walk, a couple errors, and several passed balls, and we are right back in this.

Deja vu, all over again.

Edit: Or not.

I thought the cold weather was supposed to be an advantage for us against a California team.

It did. We held them under a dozen runs, didn't we?

This game has been a showcase for the two guys (Pelfrey and Burton) that should be pitching in the independent leagues right now. Burton is 10 for 10 (10 appearances, 10 runs allowed) ...

Wow, that is an amazing stat for Burton!

Just need to play them in another night game ...

3rd times a charm.

They have to be frozen by tonight.

Hope so. If nothing else, simple probability tells me that Yasel Puig owes us one more entertaining squirrel-on-busy-highway baserunning gaffe.
