thetank Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Be a good time for the first grand slam of the season for the Twins!!!4 runs so far.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 All of these batters have reached, and each time I think about baserunning, plays to put on, etc. From Mauer through Suzuki, there is really no speed at all.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 So close!! You left out a few 'o's.

Yep, Plouffe and Kubel each were in situations where you at least *might* think about sending them, but the red light was automatic in their cases.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Huh, here's one for the Fun With Numbers thread: the only two Twins starters without a hit so far today are Hicks and Florimon. What are the odds?
twinscowboysbulls Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Have we ever had the exact same lineup for this many games in a row in Gardy's entire tenure? Someone answer my FSN+ question, please.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 So you're saying they should have put a roof on it? No, actually. They play games here in Chicago when it's that cold, too, and no roofs on either the Cell or Wrigley. Detroit is/can be just as cold; as well as Cleveland, New York and Boston. I'm not sure I'm really suggesting anything other than it's ridiculous, imo, to play in weather this cold.
cmathewson Provisional Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 At this rate, Gibson will be the major league pitcher of the month.
longstrangetrip Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Incredible...that's kind of like Ruth and Gehrig going hitless.
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 what are the odds that Gibson throws a complete game? It would be nice to save as many bullpen arms as possible for game 2...
longstrangetrip Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I guarantee I'm striking out on that last sweeping breaking ball form Gibson...hate that pitch!

ashbury Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 what are the odds that Gibson throws a complete game? It would be nice to save as many bullpen arms as possible for game 2... Pitch count's not favorable so I say no. 8 innings if he continues to do well.
big dog Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 You left out a few 'o's. You forgot to say "jinx".
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 You forgot to say "jinx". I owe you a can of pop next time I see you.
longstrangetrip Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Pitch count's not favorable so I say no. 8 innings if he continues to do well. Yeah, I agree. I would kind of like to see Burton get in an inning in a non-pressure situation...he needs to find the bite on his slider again
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Joe Mauer should have hit a dinger there. 11 pitch single to right. Unacceptable.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Joe Mauer should have hit a dinger there. 11 pitch single to right. Unacceptable. The one he did hit made him look like Vlad or Yogi as a bad-ball hitter.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 The one he did hit made him look like Vlad or Yogi as a bad-ball hitter. Bad ball hitting? Maybe he's finally taking the "Puckett vs. Mauer" debate to heart
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Plouffe had two bad ABs and made an error, but he's had two good at-bats since. There is improvement there, for sure.
big dog Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 What's more encouraging, the hitting today or the pitching? I'll go with pitching because now I am thinking Gibson is for real.
pierre75275 Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 is it just me oris it crazy that blue jays pitchers have taken 155 pitches to get through 6 innings? Anybody know what the record is for pitches by one team to get thru 9 innings? Is colabello hurt? why pull him in the 6th? is he that slow?
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Gibson was saving all the Ks for the end
twinscowboysbulls Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 According to online, that first pitch to Sierra was Gibson's fastest of the day. Finally hit 93MPH on the gun in the 7th.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 What's more encouraging, the hitting today or the pitching? I'll go with pitching because now I am thinking Gibson is for real. Both. The back of my mind is starting to honestly believe this team has a shot at 75+ wins. Colabello, Kubel, and possibly Dozier/Plouffe will cool off a bit but they're all looking like legit MLB hitters. Going into the season, I was only comfortable saying that about Dozier. And I think any drop-off from that group can be offset by rotation improvement. Gibson is overperforming but everybody has been pretty shaky, something I don't expect to see all season.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Good Lord Gibson is rolling today!
TheDean Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Is colabello hurt? why pull him in the 6th? is he that slow? I'm not sure, but I think the strategy started when Gardy was gone, and has continued since he returned. Whenever they get a big lead, they pull CC for Mastro. Not sure how I feel about it, but Mastro has range, and CC hasn't played much in the OF.
twinscowboysbulls Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Also, do you let Gibson go another inning? Either him or Pelfrey is going to have to pitch on short rest next week, since they both pitch today. Gibby is at 92 pitches...
