is it just me oris it crazy that blue jays pitchers have taken 155 pitches to get through 6 innings? Anybody know what the record is for pitches by one team to get thru 9 innings? Is colabello hurt? why pull him in the 6th? is he that slow?

My thoughts were that it's cold out, let him warm up and let Mastro run around a little, and let's get some speed in the outfield and get this game over. Plus Cowbell is slow.

I'm not sure, but I think the strategy started when Gardy was gone, and has continued since he returned. Whenever they get a big lead, they pull CC for Mastro. Not sure how I feel about it, but Mastro has range, and CC hasn't played much in the OF.

In the case of a doubleheader on a cold day, I think it's a solid plan. You want Colabello's bat out there for game two.

7 nothing game would be a good time to have Burton pitch. The grand slam he gives up would only make It 7-4.

I assume they are resting him for the second game since we are up 7 right now

Well, it's warmed up to the 60s here in ChiTown today. Better stay up that way now or I'll have to head back to Florida.

Either him or Pelfrey is going to have to pitch on short rest next week, since they both pitch today.

Deduno, if it comes to that?

If Gibson doesn't get a chance for the shutout I am going to be upset. He doesn't have that many pitches, we have a big lead, he hasn't been in trouble all day, and we have another game tonight. If this isn't the time to let him go then we are basically saying there is never a time for a pitcher to complete a game.

It would be great to see him finish it off.

Yes, it's a shame to rob the young man of the opportunity. He had the chance to take over the league lead in CG.

With '1'.

If he had 95 instead of 105, I think they'd let him go for it. Starting the ninth at 105, it's pretty doubtful he'd finish the inning and I doubt the Twins want to have a pitcher come on in the middle of an inning.

Hey, how many of you will be watching Game 2 and commenting on this board? I would certainly rather watch baseball than playoff hockey, but I do have an evening appointment.

Not to mention in freezing temps. I'm not at all upset he doesn't finish.

Hmmm...I've suddenly noticed that the Twins win, and sometimes kick ass, when I keep my yap shut all game.

Woohoo! Watch here for the next game's lineups. When I see they are up, I will post them in thread. I don't think Brian will be thinking again ... once a day is enough for him. ;)
