Hate to be debbie downer here, sportsfans, but this just cements "sacrifice bunt = big inning" in a certain man'ger's mind.

You're probably right, but as long as he continues to employ his 'draw five to ten walks per inning' strategy, the tradeoff looks pretty good.

I don't want to brag...but that's 3 series in a row I've called. That's right...I am the prognosticator.

I will be sharing my prediction on the next series when that game thread appears. That is all.

Years from now, we'll be able to tell people we were on the interweb the cold night in '14 when the pitchers from Canada couldn't get it across the plate because they had to wear mittens.

If you wanted to challenge your abilities, you would have prognosticated how this past game would play out. :)

When we think back to who actually broke this open...

It all comes back to Zukesie. Who else is clutch enough to come through as a PH, with a staredown so fierce that the pitcher decided to bury two pitches halfway between the mound and the plate rather than throwing in the strike zone, scoring two runs in one PA?

In terms of coaxing wild pitches, he was most effective, no doubt.

Mad props.

I think Gardy played the 8th fine. Yeah maybe Nunez should have swung away there, or maybe Gardy should have PH for Nunez instead of waiting for Escobar. But, down 2 with runners on 1st and 2, 0 outs, I can live with a sac bunt attempt out of a hitter of Nunez's caliber. Then plug in Plouffe with an eye to drive em in. Worst case scenario they give him the open base and then you have arguably your best hitter up (Dozier).

Works for me.

Uhhh, mods? Pretty clear off-topic reference to climate denial...or alarmism.

No, really, perfect summary of the game and the experience.

We deserved the sweep.

Have a groupon for two car cleanings. Does that help?

Just finished watching the game on my DVR. I'm fascinated by Dioner Navarro. First of all, he looks like every fat kid in every kid sports movie. 5'9" 205 according to BBRef (doesn't look like that now). I realize it is only one game but Pinto blocked a bunch of pitches that went over, under, and around Navarro. If this is any indication, Dioner must have Doumit-like defensive metrics.

Just finished watching the replay, out of curiosity were you guys watching the same game I did?

Yep, far as I can tell.

I was going to post something like this during the game. Pinto is very solid in the mechanics of catching, espcially compared to other catchers like Navarro: Setting the target, blocking pitches, catch and tag, throwing, etc. It seems like he just needs to learn the game calling thing. But he will.
