Nice to win... but suggests that yesterday's offense was an outlier until proven otherwise over an extended period. Correa leadoff?!?!.... I would love to have the Rocco/Twins FO doubling down on lost wagers at my casino anytime!

Buxton Injury Vagueness
D.C Twins commented on jharaldson's blog entry in Back Office Twins Baseball Blog
Buck does not owe us an explanation about his medical status, but the Twins owe to him and the fans to SHUT HIM DOWN until he can get healthy enough to be productive. And if he can never be healthy and productive again... make the tough decisions... that is what insurance is for on those big contracts. -
Past time to shut Buck down for as long as it takes for him to play in the field again. If he cannot ever play the field again, I feel terrible for him. BUT, tough decisions will then have to be made by management, because there is no evidence that he is a natural DH to pencil in for the next 6 years.

'which would be lower than Gary Sanchez's final mark as a Twin last year' I threw up in my mouth a little when I read this...

What’s Next? The Twins travel to Baltimore, where they’ll enjoy a day off on Thursday and start a three-game series against the Orioles on Friday (6/30). Taking the mound for Minnesota is Pablo López (3-5, 4.41 ERA), while the O’s turn to Dean Kremer (8-3, 4.50 ERA). The series opener’s first pitch is scheduled for 6:05 pm CDT. More mind-numbing baseball from a rudderless team with no capability for offensive adjustments (Fixed that for you!)

I promised a year and half ago that Rocco would be out by the end of this season and... brace yourself.... never coach an MLB team again. (He will be 'promoted' to the FO where I think he will actually do well) He is not a leader of men (no shame in that game... it is rare.... but when there are about 30 positions in the US... you'd better be able to do it, because there are plenty of other people waiting to give it a try)

Correa batting 2nd or 3rd nightly is tone deaf and cringe-worthy. I know I've said it before, but I need to repeat it for my own sanity tonight :)

#1, #2, and #4 outstanding. #3... a little more TBD because we don't yet know where Chase's development takes him (I certainly appreciated his Moxie) #5... the fact that THIS is #5 demonstrates that they have NOT had more than 4 good trades during their tenure!

I doubt the medical staff has said that he absolutely cannot play in the field... the team just thinks that he will theoretically get hurt less not playing in the field. If the medical staff thought that he was not physically able to play in the field, I doubt that they would clear him to be running full speed around the bases and sliding etc. If he truly is medically unfit to play in the field, I would prefer that he gets whatever rest, rehabilitation, surgery etc that is needed to do so. If we honestly signed him to a loooooong term contract knowing that he would likely not be able to play in the field again, it was a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge mistake (especially given our predilection for drafting many defensively limited hitters)

If only there was a platinum glove CF that could be moved off DH so that Julian could play his natural position of DH.... I know.... pure fantasy

2nd Annual Dual Mock Draft
D.C Twins replied to Jeremy Nygaard's topic in MLB Draft, International Signings, Amateur Baseball
Thanks Jeremy and posters... very insightful analysis for someone who doesn't follow the prospects or college baseball much! -
2023 Twins stuff that makes me happy in no particular order (trying to focus on the positives today): 1. Lewis 2. Ryan 3. Duran 4. Ober 5. Stewart 2023 Twins Stuff that could spark happiness in the near future 1. Julian continues development into elite MLB hitter (and a just-good-enough fielder) 2. Wallner to the MLB and sticks (I won't discuss what needs to happen for this to work... because this is a positive post ;) 3. Buck in CF again at ANY point this season (to signify that the long-term plan is not only DH) 4. Blaze develops into a bullpen weapon this year 5. Polanco comes back healthy for the 2nd part of the year (I believe he is our most reliable offensive spark when healthy)

Established stars actually playing like stars (Correa and Buck) Blossoming stars playing like stars (Lewis and Ryan) Now THIS is the kind of formula we need for sustained success. We Shall See
