  1. As goes Correa and Buck, so will go the team. Buck is simply not a good option for a permanent DH. If he remains a permanent DH, his contract is absolutely NOT team friendly anymore because of the downstream effects it has on positional and lineup flexibility. I'm not even convinced that he will be the best permanent DH option by the end of the year (looking at you Julian)
  2. ugh... yet another example of why we need Buck in CF and not clogging up the DH spot
  3. Mor-ain't supposed to be pitching for an MLB team with post season aspirations.
  4. My heart says keep him, but my brain says trade him or let him go with his mounting injury/age and talent rising beneath him. (but again... it hurts to write this)
  5. I'll be far more excited when he doing those max effort sprints.... in CF.... during games. I'm actually not missing him much at DH. I've enjoyed the positional flexibility of DH being open and honestly think Julian will prove to be the superior DH in the not-to-distant future.
  6. Further proof that if Correa (and eventually Buck), as our stars, provide even their average career production, this team is faaaaaaaar more competitive.
  7. Baseball realignment after sustained central division pathetic performance?
  8. I would be interested in an update about E Rod from someone in the know. By box scores, he certainly seems to be struggling.....Is he working on something, nagging injury.....?
  9. No, no they should not... (though that 'chasing' mentality did build Las Vegas!)
  10. Great win but the challenges remain. Essentially we were able to hit against one bad reliever with an ERA north of 5 (or 6 maybe... I can't remember) I hope things are changing, but we may have only shown that we can hit one bad reliever. We will find out!
  11. That minor league contract with spring training invite he's going to have to sign next year will be a rude awakening for sure!
  12. The FO and Rocco should save that 'super analytic system' to best direct their job applications after they are eventually fired (waaaaay to late) by ownership... In the mean time, buckle up buttercup and enjoy the downward slide!
  13. "One of those solutions could be adjusting how they approach their game plan. Under hitting coach David Popkins, the Twins are said to feature a technology-heavy approach, one championed by shortstop Carlos Correa. Last offseason, Correa described Popkins as the best hitting coach he’s ever had. But within the clubhouse, there’s some concern that not everyone is capable of handling the approach and the team may need to adjust how they prepare their hitters." Well this encapsulates much that is wrong with the team.... overreliance on analytics, technology and Correa's input (see Buxton, Byron at DH... because, you know, he never gets injured at bat or on the basepath) Hopefully Popkins filling Lewis with nonsense advice isn't why he promptly went cold after joining the Twins 🙄
  14. For the foreseeable future, 'hitting' should be replaced by 'swinging' when describing a Minnesota Twins batter. Using the above as an example: "Apparently he will be swinging for Kepler" See... doesn't that seem like a more accurate representation? I encourage all TD writers to adopt this vernacular going forward 😀
  15. I hate to say it, but if we are going to play like this, I hope Cleveland puts us out of our misery BEFORE a catastrophic playoff embarrassment!
  16. Whoaaaa! Two whole runs matching the grand total of the three games previous! We-are-on-a-roll! 😉
  17. I hold the following truths to be self-evident: 1. Correa and Buck not playing up to their capabilities is the BIGGEST problem this season. If our stars played like stars, we would be in a much better position. 2. As I've said repeatedly for 2 years, Rocco won't last through the offseason. He will get 'promoted' to a front office job. He will never manage another MLB team. Leadership matters and he is not a natural born leader. 3. Keppler needs to be DFA'ed . I would much rather see a prospect struggle and grow, if not excel. 4. Wallner playing in AAA while the Twins 'Offence' continues, is the biggest FO malpractice since the Sano in the outfield fiasco (last FO of course)
  18. Waaaaay to early to judge Julian MLB potential. He needs more time to adjust... like almost all young players. (But I do agree with the defense concern)
  19. Checking my advanced metric machine..... We don't win this game without Royce F-ing Lewis!!!!!! "I wanted to be up there in the 9th and I knew I was going to get the job done." This comment may have been even better than his hitting! (And I'll happily overreact to the SSS after the garbage 'offence' that we have been subjected to!)
  20. Anyone seen SWR pitch recently? Thoughts on the major malfunction?
