  1. Dude... Cleveland and Chicago are selling big. Kansas City and Detroit are well... Kansas City and Detroit. Our division is such a Sh- Show that we could sell AND accidentally win the division!
  2. "as it will do serious damage to their postseason hopes" Therein lies the problem.... hopes of making the postseason or hopes of accomplishing anything in the postseason? My heart says buy, but my head says sell (seller's market with 2 SP on expiring contracts and too many LF OF to count)
  3. Julian needs to be in the line up Every. Single. Day. He is young and he has been an offensive spark plug. If they want to give him a break at 2B... Fine... He goes to DH and Buck grabs some bench.
  4. You could very well be right... but I think there is minimal risk to call him up and see how his current 'stuff' plays at the MLB level. I do think our rotation will need more rest coming down the home stretch in some form or fashion (Ober and Ryan especially)
  5. Great to see a good game from Buck and a good trend from Kepler, BUT.... Moran simply cannot continue to be a member of this bullpen. I hope that this game represents a beginning of something for Buck, but I am skeptical because his other 2 good games this season did not...
  6. "As long as Byron Buxton remains a full-time designated hitter..." The root of all Twins offense problems....
  7. Yes.... but I'd give the start to the previous cy young winner doing well in AAA with an upcoming opt out instead of a still struggling Varland 🙂
  8. Correa, Polanco, Julian, Krill, Lewis at the top/mid of the order had a wonderous ring to it! Buck needs to bat 6th or lower until he has proven otherwise over at least a 2 week stretch. If he is still playing poorly by 1 September and we are playoff bound, he is going to have to step aside and let someone else DH.
  9. Julian CANNOT be sent down when Polanco returns! Buck goes to IL or the bench. He has had 2 good games in 2 months. (ie he has taken advantage of 2 pitchers in 2 months) It is not an accident that our run has coincided with Correa, Krill, Julian at the top of the order. Don't screw this up FO!
  10. Julian has been amazing with the bat... he and Krill cannot leave the top of the order! Hoping this is the beginning of a positive trend for Buck... unlike the last one-off multi-homer game. (cue the Debbie Downer music and close up) We'll see.... fingers (and toes) crossed!
  11. When Polanco is back, he is at 2nd, Julian is at DH and Buck is on the IL or the bench.... Anything else is organizational malpractice.
  12. A Buxton, Farmer, Castro, Kepler heart of the order..... oh be still my heart!
  13. The totality of his work would suggest that there are better options. I would rather have Julian as DH than Buck currently. It makes me sad to say it but it is true.
  14. ...well if they were to DFA Buxton... it would be Julian as the DH.... no Cave required 😉 But, of course they should not DFA Buxton!
  15. Yes, I do think Rocco knows he is injured and keeps putting him out there to hit. He is the face of the Twins franchise and AD campaign which drives the FO directive to get him into games. If his knee problems are not impacting his hitting then he's in even bigger trouble. Ummm... opinion based on faaaar more than on 0-4 night..... He IS a liability to the team right now. Which is super sad to say because a healthy Buck sparks joy like few if any others in the league..... both currently and historically.
  16. Lee with a HR and 3 SO.... please tell me they are NOT trying to ruin his sweet swing by jamming him into the 3 true option mold....
  17. My concern is that Buxton has large pay escalators for number of AB. He is unlikely to opt out of the line up as long as he can walk to the plate. The onus is on the Twins FO to shut him down (or at least drop him low in the order) What a mess.
  18. There is literally no risk in bringing in firing Popkins and giving someone else a chance. The offense is a failed state.
  19. They should absolutely trade him for assets. It does not preclude them from signing him in the offseason!
  20. "The most significant discrepancy between teams with great regular season records and teams with postseason success was their collection of hitters." yikes for this group! To be clear... we have '0' 120+ hitters "you can have some hope" Hope is not a plan! "Like the 2015 Mets, it might take the addition of one good bat to turn this Twins team into a dark horse contender." Be honest... there is no way that you typed this with a straight face!
  21. Naw... We're good... no need to waste prospects trying to right this sinking ship
  22. If 'Dallas' is the answer, the question was most certainly NOT "what pitcher would a championship caliber team add to their roster"
  23. "There's basically nobody anyone should worry about replacing or moving. It's as straightforward as straightforward can be." This, this.... aaaaaaaand... THIS!
