  1. Great win but the challenges remain. Essentially we were able to hit against one bad reliever with an ERA north of 5 (or 6 maybe... I can't remember) I hope things are changing, but we may have only shown that we can hit one bad reliever. We will find out!
  2. That minor league contract with spring training invite he's going to have to sign next year will be a rude awakening for sure!
  3. The FO and Rocco should save that 'super analytic system' to best direct their job applications after they are eventually fired (waaaaay to late) by ownership... In the mean time, buckle up buttercup and enjoy the downward slide!
  4. "One of those solutions could be adjusting how they approach their game plan. Under hitting coach David Popkins, the Twins are said to feature a technology-heavy approach, one championed by shortstop Carlos Correa. Last offseason, Correa described Popkins as the best hitting coach he’s ever had. But within the clubhouse, there’s some concern that not everyone is capable of handling the approach and the team may need to adjust how they prepare their hitters." Well this encapsulates much that is wrong with the team.... overreliance on analytics, technology and Correa's input (see Buxton, Byron at DH... because, you know, he never gets injured at bat or on the basepath) Hopefully Popkins filling Lewis with nonsense advice isn't why he promptly went cold after joining the Twins 🙄
  5. For the foreseeable future, 'hitting' should be replaced by 'swinging' when describing a Minnesota Twins batter. Using the above as an example: "Apparently he will be swinging for Kepler" See... doesn't that seem like a more accurate representation? I encourage all TD writers to adopt this vernacular going forward 😀
  6. I hate to say it, but if we are going to play like this, I hope Cleveland puts us out of our misery BEFORE a catastrophic playoff embarrassment!
  7. Whoaaaa! Two whole runs matching the grand total of the three games previous! We-are-on-a-roll! 😉
  8. I hold the following truths to be self-evident: 1. Correa and Buck not playing up to their capabilities is the BIGGEST problem this season. If our stars played like stars, we would be in a much better position. 2. As I've said repeatedly for 2 years, Rocco won't last through the offseason. He will get 'promoted' to a front office job. He will never manage another MLB team. Leadership matters and he is not a natural born leader. 3. Keppler needs to be DFA'ed . I would much rather see a prospect struggle and grow, if not excel. 4. Wallner playing in AAA while the Twins 'Offence' continues, is the biggest FO malpractice since the Sano in the outfield fiasco (last FO of course)
  9. Buxton's season has been sad for me, because his play used to spark joy. It is depressing to be reminded that we have an elite 5 tool player going unused when he provides average to above average ABs 4-5 times a game. Clogging up the DH position causing poor hitting substitutes in the outfield is the biggest problem.
  10. Waaaaay to early to judge Julian MLB potential. He needs more time to adjust... like almost all young players. (But I do agree with the defense concern)
  11. Checking my advanced metric machine..... We don't win this game without Royce F-ing Lewis!!!!!! "I wanted to be up there in the 9th and I knew I was going to get the job done." This comment may have been even better than his hitting! (And I'll happily overreact to the SSS after the garbage 'offence' that we have been subjected to!)
  12. Anyone seen SWR pitch recently? Thoughts on the major malfunction?
  13. ....and it's not like hitting isn't a desperate need for the team or anything 🙄 ,,, what a S- Show
  14. "We (have) played a disjointed game today past 3 years is what we('ve) done did." I fixed that for you Rocco!
  15. "Do they ever watch their own product?" This is wonderfully insightful question that succinctly encapsulates our overwhelming frustration.
  16. And for all of those who argue how little the manager matters, I ask... Why have one then? Why not just have a phone in the dugout for the players to communicate directly with the FO or their AI bot? There is a manager, because leadership indeed DOES matter. Attitude, expectation, environment, attention to detail, competitive fire etc DOES matter. I'm sure Rocco would be fantastic in our FO, but he is NOT a good leader. As I've said for 2 years now.... if Rocco were to be fired, it is HIGHLY unlikely that he would be hired by another MLB team to manage. So, we extended him.... because we were worried that another team was clamoring to compete for his services if his contract expired? (just writing that made me giggle)
  17. Which scenario has better odds? 1. The Twins win the WS this year 2. MLB gets rid of the divisions during the offseason and just has the top teams from the entire American League go to the playoffs given the historic ineptitude of the Central Division this year and questionable performance previously (especially now with balanced schedules) I think #2, though unlikely, has a better chance than #1
  18. I would use the word 'competition' very loosely when describing the American League Central.....
  19. Baldi extension is the WORST news by far this year..... total gut punch
  20. Buck to CF and then Kirilloff to DH..... Taylor to bench.... but Buck out again now, so......
