  1. Didn't see an inning of 2004 while in nephrology fellowship working unspeakable hours. But no sympathy required.... was taking care of Wounded Warriors at the time and was in attendance at Game 2 in 1987 and Game 1 in 1991!
  2. If I was a Toronto fan, I would have LOST. MY. MIND. when they pulled Berrios. Thank the Lord that the Analytic Obsession sabotaged the other team today!
  3. "We’ve got a lot more to show...that is what I can tell you about this club, Ok?!" Rocco's post-game response with some fire in his eyes... Now THAT has been what I've been waiting to see from him. It got me even more fired up when I didn't think that I could be anymore fired up!
  4. Get this man on a consistent stretching routine....injuries only thing standing in the way of an elite career!
  5. We need a full Parker article about what changed for Kepler (or is it just attitude and perspective)... He has been a different player for long enough now for this not to be just a 'good heater'
  6. Drew Macphail son of Andy Macphail? oh.... and.... Walter F-ing Jenkins!!!!!!
  7. As anticipated...
  8. Agree with analysis. BUT.... One need look no further than Gray's 8-8 record and most recent 1-0 loss (TO THE ANGLES) to understand how much the Twins line up can sabotage great pitching. The health and productivity of Lewis will determine how far we go in the playoffs and is the biggest wildcard. (an article breaking down Twins offensive numbers and record with Lewis in and out of the lineup would be VERY interesting) Fingers crossed!
  9. Kudos Nick.... my vote for Best Article Title of the Year!
  10. Correa is simply getting rest for chronic foot issues. He'll 100% be back.
  11. I'd rather have any of the other hitters on your roster not named Taylor or Stevenson DH instead of Buxton if Julian sits (obviously if they are not starting at their position that day) I really think Ober needs to be one of the pitchers. I would sub him for Paddack in your group. Great to see Paddack progressing but the playoffs is not the time to 'see what you have' in a pitcher. Finally, I'd start Ryan in a game three but on a short leash with Maeda waiting in the wings. When Ryan is 'on' he is every bit as good as Gray and Lopez.... but will he be 'on.' I think we will know early and be ready to adjust accordingly. You could have Ryan waiting behind Maeda but Maeda has come out of the bullpen before and 'peak Ryan' is better than 'peak Maeda' in my opinion.
  12. Sabato should probably get his real estate license while he is down there and start preparing for life after baseball
  13. I would compare our young core more to the '84 Twins than the '87 Twins.... the talent is there but there still needs to be development to seriously compete for championships People definitely 'knew' that Puckett, Hrbek, Gaetti, Burnansky, and Viola were good in '87 but less so in '84 when they came close to the playoffs. What people also 'knew' in 1987 was that the Twins 3rd pitcher was a guy named Les Straker and they had exactly 2 talented bullpen arms... one of which was not exactly known for his command/control (Senior Smoke ring a bell for anyone?) The '87 Twins were built better for the post season than the regular season by a long shot
  14. 'The first player that jumps out on this list is Taylor Buxton.' Fixed that for you. If he ends up on the post season roster, that means the Twins FO is still in the denial phase on Buck. It is OK for Buck and the Fans to be in denial, but it is NOT OK for the FO to be in denial because their denial will ultimately hurt the team's chances of post season success. And unlike Buxton and the Fans, they are paid to be objective.
  15. Sorry... not good news.... or news at all related to the potential post season success of the 2023 Twins. You are still in the denial stage and that is OK.... I'll save a chair for you on the stage of acceptance for whenever you get here!
  16. This won't end well.... which is probably for the best because 2023 Buck would be a liability on the playoff roster.
  17. 1. We are going to miss Gray 2. Gray is going to get Paaaaaaaaid next season
  18. Martin..... and he also leads off.... next question :)
  19. Hopefully Lewis, Kirilloff, Jeffers, and Lee will be the Puckett, Gaetti, Hrbek, and Brunansky core for years of success to come. If all goes well, Correa and Buck will be welcomed icing, but not the cake going forward.....
  20. Dobnak has worked hard to return and is by all accounts a pillar of the community. I'm sure that he would like better results, but I for one could not be happier for him that he got the contract that he did and has maximized his talents. I would not be surprised if he finds his way into a few spot starts in the MLB next season. Lee and Martin and Servino... oh my! Severino is only 23 by the way.
