  1. Even the average NHL team has less injuries that the Twins and it is a contact sport with regular fighting!
  2. "Bailey really did his job today. He threw the ball very well." Yes Rocco....he did....right up until you pulled him after 60 some pitches in 5 innings for an injury limited bullpen with predictable results. I will give Rocco credit for remembering that Martin was on his roster today though!
  3. Sorry Nick, but when the technology is there and better.... you don't just decide to 'ignore the man behind the curtain' and get rid of live strike zone results because the optics are bad. The optics are bad because home plate umpires calling balls/strikes is an antiquated system. The ultimate transition to automated strike zone calls in MLB is a question of 'when' and not an 'if'...
  4. Pictures of Randy Dobnak make me irrationally happy. Great 'everyman' story and appearance. He also does great work in the community. I'm not saying he will ever or should ever pitch for the Twins again.... but I will ALWAYS be a big fan. (and yes... I am happy he got paid... the Pohlads will be just fine without the 8-9 million)
  5. Margon leadoff... woof (just checked live box score AFTER this and let's just say this take was already rotten on arrival :)
  6. Well done... enjoyable read!
  7. Brah... must hit baseball to win...brah!
  8. I'm not so sure... his struggles go well beyond just this game....but I hope you are right!
  9. I'm worried most about Wallner.... He has shown nothing throughout Spring training and now the regular season. If the league has adjusted to him, I hope he can make his own adjustments..... and soon.
  10. Wallner is the biggest concern. He has not hit all Spring.... The league may have adjusted and he has not....
  11. If Buxton and Correa stay healthy and play this way all year (big if I know).... I like the Twins chances..... Until I start thinking about our SP depth... and then I become skeptical again....until I think about a healthy Buck and Correa... and then.....
  12. I think that one of the Twins' biggest strengths is the balance that they have between veterans, young MLB players and quality of farm system. They are well positioned for sustained success. But.... are we willing to compromise some long term sustained success to go 'all in' on a WS run if the situation arises? My concern is that ownership as determined that consistent moderate success is optimal for long term revenue over one WS followed by extended struggles.
  13. I think the wildest prediction was a Wallner BA of .279!!!! Where can I bet on THAT over/under?!
  14. If he stays healthy, everything else will take care of itself. Honestly, he has already exceeded my expectations by playing as much as he has in CF in Spring training.... I thought is days as a regular CF were over.
  15. Royce Lewis has the potential to be the Kirby Puckett equivalent x-factor of this team that gives it a puncher's chance at the WS. (charismatic big game player)
  16. Some tough decisions there (ie well placed lines) I'd be most confident in: 1. OVER on Twins wins! 2. OVER on Lewis RBIs 3. OVER on Lopez wins Ryan, Buxton, and Kepler have way to wide of a confidence interval for my betting tastes.....
  17. I think that 'Budget' in the title of an article has officially replaced 'Buxton Health' as the biggest click bait to rile up the TD faithful :)
  18. I think finding a way to add another #3 level SP or higher was crucial to be a truly competitive team deep into the playoffs. Given the injury history of Paddock, the dearth of talent for our #5 (can't spell it and I don't think he'll be around long enough for me to need to), and Ryan/Ober having yet to definitively declare themselves as reliable above average piticher year/year, we really needed another good reliable option. If all SP maximize their potential and stay healthy, it could be an impressive rotation (well minus #5-whats-his-name) but ideally the job of the FO is to minimize the 'ifs" Whatever the cost of another #3 SP or better would come back and then some if the team did make deep runs in the playoffs over the next couple years. You have to spend money (wisely) to make money....
  19. How long will it be until Lee is the starting 2B and Julian is the starting 1B (mixed with DH)?
  20. Hopefully Lee up to 2B and Julian over to 1st by second half of the season or next year at the latest....
  21. Sabato a prospect? Ahhhh.....nooooooo.....
  22. When I was young... many moons ago... there were 'knot hole days' (reference to watching through a hole in the wood fence for you young ones) which allowed kids into the park for next-to-nothing (less than 5 bucks). This worked well back then to get kids and families to the park... and then money is made when the inevitable 'I WANT the ICECREAM in the mini-batting helmet' whining kicks in about the 4th inning :)
  23. This... this....aaaaaaaaaaaaand... THIS! We need to see what we have in Martin THIS year. And we need to have a clear back-up plan... and a back-up to the back-up plan in CF for BUCK.... so if you are going to put him in AAA... he should be in CF warming up.
