  1. If he stays healthy, everything else will take care of itself. Honestly, he has already exceeded my expectations by playing as much as he has in CF in Spring training.... I thought is days as a regular CF were over.
  2. Royce Lewis has the potential to be the Kirby Puckett equivalent x-factor of this team that gives it a puncher's chance at the WS. (charismatic big game player)
  3. Some tough decisions there (ie well placed lines) I'd be most confident in: 1. OVER on Twins wins! 2. OVER on Lewis RBIs 3. OVER on Lopez wins Ryan, Buxton, and Kepler have way to wide of a confidence interval for my betting tastes.....
  4. I think that 'Budget' in the title of an article has officially replaced 'Buxton Health' as the biggest click bait to rile up the TD faithful :)
  5. I think finding a way to add another #3 level SP or higher was crucial to be a truly competitive team deep into the playoffs. Given the injury history of Paddock, the dearth of talent for our #5 (can't spell it and I don't think he'll be around long enough for me to need to), and Ryan/Ober having yet to definitively declare themselves as reliable above average piticher year/year, we really needed another good reliable option. If all SP maximize their potential and stay healthy, it could be an impressive rotation (well minus #5-whats-his-name) but ideally the job of the FO is to minimize the 'ifs" Whatever the cost of another #3 SP or better would come back and then some if the team did make deep runs in the playoffs over the next couple years. You have to spend money (wisely) to make money....
  6. How long will it be until Lee is the starting 2B and Julian is the starting 1B (mixed with DH)?
  7. Hopefully Lee up to 2B and Julian over to 1st by second half of the season or next year at the latest....
  8. Sabato a prospect? Ahhhh.....nooooooo.....
  9. When I was young... many moons ago... there were 'knot hole days' (reference to watching through a hole in the wood fence for you young ones) which allowed kids into the park for next-to-nothing (less than 5 bucks). This worked well back then to get kids and families to the park... and then money is made when the inevitable 'I WANT the ICECREAM in the mini-batting helmet' whining kicks in about the 4th inning :)
  10. This... this....aaaaaaaaaaaaand... THIS! We need to see what we have in Martin THIS year. And we need to have a clear back-up plan... and a back-up to the back-up plan in CF for BUCK.... so if you are going to put him in AAA... he should be in CF warming up.
  11. I'm suspicious that Lewis has a bit too much helium as a prospect currently but I hope I'm wrong!
  12. DeSclafani as the third highest paid player on our roster is BONKERS! (yes... I understand money came back to us and that salary goes up when team control is lost... but still in a vacuum.... BONKERS!)
  13. "Is Anthony DeSclafani enough to boost the rotation of a Minnesota Twins team that wants to be true contenders? " No... no it is not....
  14. Good God... I forgot about that rotation.... Also the Maddox, Glavine, Smoltz (and others) from Atlanta that 'only' won one WS
  15. OK with the move as long as the $$$ dedicated does not prevent us from getting more SP support. Oh... and Miranda's path to MLB roster just got much more difficult.... which is fine by me... make him earn his way back
  16. So thankful that neither one is on the Twins anymore. If you want to discuss average exit velocity remember to include all the zeros from the SOs in that equation :)
  17. I smell what the Chpettit is cooking on this thread... taking into account all responses, insight as good if not better than the original article!
  18. Happ and Shoemaker in the same season... I just threw up in my mouth a little bit remembering that. A reminder to the Twins this offseason to resist the urge to go shopping in the SP bargain bin!
  19. I think Chris Paddack makes a huge contribution this year and will ascend to our #2 SP quickly.
  20. And we haven't signed Gallo (yet) this offseason, so perhaps silence is golden...
  21. Pay the man, Shirley! On a serious note.... It will take more than Nick is suggesting this year and I suspect that Lewis will bet on himself this year knowing that a full healthy year's performance will dive the extension number FAR north of Nick's suggestion during potential negotiations next offseason.
