If the plan is to platoon him then sure if his is clearly matching 2024 production.... but I would prefer your best hitter agnostic of pitching side as lead off. That may change throughout the season. Again...get your stars the most ABs possible

How long until the Tonkin experiment is done (again)...asking for a friend's sanity
  3. D.C Twins
If he is, the Twins are in big trouble

Twins with classic overthinking on leadoff. Your leadoff should be your best hitter so that they are assured the maximum ABs for the game. Nothing is more important than having your best hitters get more ABs.

Believe it when I see it....

"After France couldn’t find a job all offseason and 29 other teams declined to guarantee him a deal, the Twins see him as a near-everyday player." GUT. PUNCH.
  7. D.C Twins
oh goody! He is clearly what any team competing for a WS would want to have big plans for.... sigh...

Spring Training... time for the annual stories that so and so are in THE BEST SHAPE EVER stories!

    with maximum angular acceleration....
  10. D.C Twins
Yup...would have rather just let the kids play and see what we have

I'm sure the Dodgers were in hot pursuit BUT.....

I've been shocked for 2 years running that Rocco still has a job.... Thought experiment: Do you think Rocco will ever manage for another team again? Hard no for me... so why do the Twins cling to a negative WAR manager like he is a prize.

    this....This....aaaaaaaaaaaaand......THIS!

I had Mar-got that Margot had led off so many times during last season. Not as bat s- crazy as continually running him out there to pinch hit.... but close...

    Great informative article Nick!

Well done Cody.... this was my favorite TD article in a long while!

Is it possible that with all the bullpen depth that the Twins intend to keep Varland stretched out as a SP option this year?
  18. D.C Twins
I think the issue is that they could not make impactful moves in other areas of need for 5 million but they could in the area of LH RP

Do Not Trade Starting Pitching For Casas Period

Totally OK with ending the Tonkin experiment now. We all know how it will play out otherwise... spoiler alert... it won't be pretty
  21. D.C Twins
Tonkin estimated WAR of 0.1 is wildly optimistic... he'll be a negative WAR and not even make it through the season. Brock will be a 1.0 or effectively a 0 based on health. Alcala could surprise us with the breakout season some of us feel is his capable of.
  22. D.C Twins
Keirsey is an easy decision for 4th outfield rolling into a season with zero budget flexibility and absentee ownership.
  23. D.C Twins
If Brock Stewart says healthy for a year... this bullpen could be elite... Peak Brock is a game changer.
  24. D.C Twins
The Dodgers at 353 million!!!!! MLB is not going to be healthy until there is harder salary cap with increased revenue sharing. Look at the NFL. The equal playing field in many ways has contributed to their overwhelming popularity and overall growth
  25. D.C Twins
    nope....
