  1. I hope the Twins pay TD for these articles. Wow.
  2. Hopefully, we won't face the 🐅 in the playoffs ...
  3. It is possible, I suppose. The problem with articles like this is, besides just click bait, it assumes best case for us and ignores the opponent. Basically, whomever we play will be better then us. If we bring our A game and they do too, they will win. On the other have, expectations are so low, one win moves the needle substantially.
  4. They've done a nice job after that ugly losing streak. Gotta give Rocco some credit for the team not giving up.
  5. I'm honestly not sure why anyone would trust the FO but, importantly, ownership seems to do it doesn't matter. So we're likely stuck with this type of product for a few more years. But I think there is more then enough reason to move on from this FO
  6. I thought for sure I had replied to this thread yesterday but now there is nothing there. Was something deleted for some reason?
  7. So, before the season, I thought this was a sub-500 team and, technically, they are beating my expectations. But, generally, I think this is a poorly constructed team, with no clear idea of what it is. It's boring to watch. So, I'd put most of the blame on the FO.
  8. Again, it's really not a bad thing. Pitching, even now, is so thin, that "back of the rotation" starters are good. Some call them 4/5 starters. Basically, they are league average pitchers who can throw a sizeable number of innings. I was trying to be nice and respectful to Ryan.
  9. I don't think we should overreact. We should remember what Ryan is - he's not an ace. In old nomenclature, he's a back of the rotation starter (although that usually ticks people off). That's a good thing, it's a level above the journeyman pitcher. He's a guy who, at the end of the year, is going to give an ERA+ of somewhere around 100-105, solid amount of innings, and be worth something around 2 WAR. That means, over the course of 30 starts, he's going to have some gems and he'll have a few stinkers. And, usually, pitchers have streaks of good starts and then some bad starts. He's managed to give the Twins 12 quality starts, which is pretty impressive in today's game (that's 15th in baseball).
  10. No trade was going to make this team better but trading Gray could have helped for the future and moving Kepler would have freed up space for the guys that need to play. Instead, we're playing a bunch of guys who aren't worth all that much. 11 players on the Twins have had 200+ PA this year, five of them are over 30 and none of them are Larnich or Wallner. Somehow we've managed to have a old, underachieving lineup while not letting two former top picks get enough at-bats. Again, I agree with the premise that the Twins will win the central but, man, what a crappy product.
  11. I suspect we will end up regretting not trading Gray but we'll see. We're not a good team but we're in the AL Central so we will make the playoffs and that'll probably be enough to keep the FO and Rocco around. I agree that if they thought they were on the hot seat, something would have been done. I'm not really surprised by today. But I'm sad that I'm feeling numb to the Twins.
  12. I disagree with pretty much everything in this article. But I do think the Twins will end up hanging onto both Maeda and Gray so it'll be a moot point.
  13. Wow, Witt really loves playing the Twins ...
  14. I like the idea of putting him in CF. Just get him regular playing time.
  15. Honestly, Witt Jr is a good young player. Every now and then, that'll happen. Nice to see the Twins score some runs.
  16. If the Twins can unload Kepler and get something solid that will help us down the road for Gray and/or Meada, I'd be thrilled.
  17. Sure, it might still work out. But we could have held onto Petty, still sucked, and traded him after another year of development. The Twins sucked in 2021 - they were last in the Central and finished 20 GB. They weren't one player away. They weren't snake bit by injuries. They had arguably the worst pitching staff in Twins history (staff combined for 89 ERA+ and -0.1 WAR) and they traded Berrios. And they didn't do enough. Adding Gray made sense. The Paddack/Pagen trade "made sense", too. Just didn't work out the way we wanted.
  18. The trade in a vacuum made sense. The Twins moved a high upside/high risk pitcher for a good pitcher now. It was a pretty obvious "win now" trade. But the problem was that we made a "win now" trade and finished below .500. The FO didn't do the other things that were needed to make the trade make sense. So, knowing what we know now, I'd have rather hung onto Petty.
  19. Angels farm system isn't great but those two were #2 and 3 on their prospect list. Good get for Chicago.
  20. If nothing else, I hope his son is ok. Good luck to him.
  21. Just looking at a few articles out there, Rizzo is calling him an all-star (great posturing) but his babip is pretty high and, realistically, he's going to regress. I wonder if the Nats can get a top 100 prospect for him. If that's what they are holding onto, I don't think we should do it. And our resistance to playing Wallner probably hasn't gone unnoticed around the league. Not sure who the Nats would want to focus on.
  22. Only the second 8-3-5 triple play in baseball history. (Sorry if it had posted elsewhere!) https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/38071500/braves-turn-first-8-3-5-triple-play-1884-red-sox
  23. They had a nice little winning streak going so I won't worry too much, can't win them all. Regroup and win tomorrow.
