  1. I don't mind the pick. Take a flyer on a guy like that. If he was 6'4" and had a rocket for an arm after throwing for 6000+ yards at BYU, he'd have been a first rounder, not a fifth rounder. I'd probably let him get the start next week because, why not? But I don't expect much from him.
  2. Luzardo for two top prospects sounds right. I'm stupid high on Lee and pitchers are fragile so I wouldn't do the trade but it's not crazy.
  3. Loved the DND movie.
  4. Maybe he'll look better in the Championship game.
  5. Nah. Coming into the season, we were all terrified about how bad this defense could be. They didn't really add anyone (Davenport, I guess) and last year we were 31st in yards allowed per game and 28th in pts allowed per game, despite playing a second place schedule. This year we're 16th and 12th against a first place schedule, including holding the 49ers to their lowest point total of the year. That's a pretty substantial improvement without a huge investment in players. It's also Flores' first year as a defensive coordinator, believe it or not. As head coach in Miami, his defenses got better after a few years so I think he can pinpoint problems and fix them. It also isn't helping that the offense is turning the ball over all the time.
  6. Yeah. I was surprised how much he struggled after he left the White Sox but he is still pretty young. Nice move by Boston.
  7. They beat the 49ers, the refs gave the Chiefs their victory, and if Mattison and Jefferson didn't fumble, we would have beaten the Eagles, too. The game is funny.
  8. I'm not a huge Cousins guy and at his age, it might be time to move on. But your posts are just wrong. The Cousins we've had the last few years could have won a super bowl with the right coaching/supporting cast. This idea that only franchise, gunslinging, improvising, walk-on-water QBs can win a Superbowl is just wrong. Rodgers, for all his talent, won one super bowl and is only 12-10 in the post-season, despite having a fantastic supporting cast and elite coaches. Matt Stafford won a Superbowl the year he lead the league in interceptions. Nick Foles won one. Case Keenan brought a team to the NFC Championship game. And Brock Purdy exists. The legitimate concern about QBs is that they cost so much, compared to the rest of the team, that they can make building a roster very hard. I don't think the Vikings agree, but I think I'm ready to go with someone like McCarthy who seems to fit KOC's pocket passing model and use the savings to improve the team elsewhere.
  9. I think Cousins wants three years, I'm not sure we'd give it to him. Although Jefferson wants him back. My guess is that we sign Cousins and take a non-QB in the first round and if one of Nix, Penix, Sanders, McCarthy is falling in round two, we might trade up to nab them.
  10. Just my two cents but this draft is loaded with enough QB prospects that I think it is likely that the Vikings can get one, if they want one. This mock has Penix, Sanders, and McCarthy going to the second round and the Vikings taking Sanders, this one has us grabbing Nix. I know mocks aren't all that reliable but ... what the heck. And the Athletic thinks it's likely the Vikings enter the top 10 of the draft, which would make drafting a top QB much more likely.
  11. Rough loss
  12. Really bad officiating
  13. I miss Dobbs.
  14. First, why shouldn't players be paid what they are worth? Why shouldn't they own "massive mansion and sports cars"? The common person doesn't generate the revenue professional athletes do. I'd much rather see players get paid much much more than they are then gripe about how they live. Second, why should LA be constrained by Minnesota or Tampa Bay's budget? The Dodgers are iconic and have built up their fanbase through decades of (mostly) being competitive and giving their fanbases fun baseball to watch. They have earned the ability to pay players their worth. And players should get their worth. Big salaries drive up everyone's salaries in baseball (we can lament how valuable/harmful deferred money and opt outs are later). If the Pohlads hadn't spent decades trying to blackmail the state to fund their stadium and tank season after season, maybe the fanbase would be more supportive. Instead, they complain about fans not watching their ****** product.
  15. Labor over management. Glad these guys are making what they are worth. More players should.
  16. Hey, after eight seasons and a billion dollars in payroll, they won a playoff series. How can you question them? Plus, they let go a lot of longtime scouts and staff and announced they'd slash payroll. Be more optimistic.
  17. It's an ok proposal. He'd been a top 100 prospect, he can be shuttled between AAA/MLB, which is what we need, until he locks up a rotation spot. He looks like he can absorb innings and has upside. That's not a bad get and it opens up playing time for younger players around the diamond. I don't think Kepler and Polanco will get us that much more.
  18. I think the Vikings will target McCarthy if they don't go with Kirk.
  19. If 2024 Kirk is closer to 2022 Kirk (which, to me, is likely) than I think I'd rather have the Vikings target someone in the draft or find someone else. I agree with the idea of jumping off one year early over one year late. That said, I suspect the Vikings are looking around at the league and saying, "If Kirk were healthy, we'd be able to compete with anyone." I don't think that's true but I suspect that's KOC's mindset. I would bet we bring Kirk back on a three year deal.
  20. That's on KOC. He really is the prefect coach for kirk and Jefferson. But might not be the guy if you had Jerome Bettis. 😀
  21. Yep. We're playing journeymen, turnovers happen. Don't think switching is usually helpful. He's looked ok but for a few plays. More concerned about the o-line.
  22. I did a youtube music quiz a month or so again and this was one of the songs they played. I couldn't place it but was like, "Oh, yeah, I remember that!" Then I went to watch the video and finally actually listened to the lyrics and ... wow. Just nuts. But a great tune.
  23. Strange season. Charges gave up 63 points and that wasn't the largest total given up this year. Ouch.
  24. Reid is going to coach until he dies. Like, he literally has no life outside of coaching.
