  1. What are you looking at on fangraphs? Last years stats or some projection?
  2. I hope I'm wrong but don't think we have the pitching to last a whole season. Probably very similar to last season so say 77 wins.
  3. Nice write up. I figure Cleveland wins the central again. They have nice young talent, solid vets, and a good manager. They are a lot like the 2000s Twins, actually.
  4. I liked the idea of the WBC but it has been so much better than I could have hoped for. It's great for baseball. I love it.
  5. I don't think you're right but I hope you are. It would be nice to see a playoff team (or at least a team with a winning record).
  6. That's not starter money. Wonder if he has some incentives? I like him as part of our running back core but not as the main guy, and it seems like most agree.
  7. I don't know how all the parade of horribles would work if Rodgers can't get traded. But I hope he doesn't get traded and then the Packers have to deal with a full season of Rodgers/Love drama, esp if they go with Love and he struggles early. I don't know what would happen to GB if Rodgers just straight up retires but it sounds like they would be in cap hell if that happened. So, that's also good.
  8. I assume by compensation he meant what the Packers want back from NY. Sounds like they are demanding several first round picks but other reports refute that. Also a question of whether Rodgers is wanting to take a pay cut or demanding more money. https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/2023/3/15/23641294/green-bay-packers-news-aaron-rodgers-trade-compensation-update-new-york-jets-adam-schefter-2023
  9. Vikings also resigned K Greg Joseph.
  10. I wonder if this means we will see a lot more Hockenson lining up out wide with Jefferson/Osborn while Oliver helps in pass protection?
  11. Well, Mundt must be gone. https://www.si.com/fannation/bringmethesports/vikings/report-vikings-sign-free-agent-tight-end-josh-oliver
  12. Yeah, I mean, he was a good LB before he came here so maybe it was coaching/scheme? And Flores knows what he's doing? But I thought he was a bit invisible last year. I had no idea he had a 129 tackles. I would have guessed a lot fewer. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/03/13/vikings-restructure-jordan-hicks-contract/
  13. He does seem like the type of guy who wants to nurse a wound, if that makes sense. I honestly I have no idea where he wants to go. Raiders? Makes some sense with Adams. NFC South? It's wide open. Jets? Former coach and huge market would be good for his non-NFL work. I dunno. I hope he retires.
  14. Mahle is the only one I'd consider but it really depends on his health. Shoulder fatigue is scary. The other two will not be back. (Frankly, I think the Twins will be out of it at the deadline and trade guys like Gray/Maeta if they are healthy). I could see the Twins trying to extend Ryan on an insanely team-friendly deal but I don't think his agent would allow that to happen.
  15. Yeah, I don't mind this trade for Carolina
  16. I don't think the NY market would let this happen. Giants fans would mock Jets fans for trading for the QB who checked down on 4th and 8.
  17. I'm not sure it means that. I think it might mean they are taking the salary hit. They have a lot of bodies in the secondary. Maybe a mix of "we gotta do this sometime" and "throw against the wall, see what sticks" is in the works?
  18. I think this is the right thing for everyone. He can sign for something somewhere since it's a pretty bad WR free agency crop, maybe for more than what the Vikes were willing to do. And the Vikings can clear his salary and be ready to reload in a year. It also, if nothing big happens, lets Osborn slide into the #2 receiver position and, ideally, take another step up. He certainly had a few games where he looked like a legit #2.
  19. Honestly, I don't think it's realistic for the QB of the future to drop into our laps in this draft and Cousins isn't going anywhere so it's likely that the Vikings try to reload instead of a rebuild next year. The offense should still be pretty good. Draft defense, see what a new scheme and good coaching can fix, hope to catch fire at the right times again. Depending on how Detroit is, the North should be winnable. But I don't see any realistic scenario for a new QB right now. The Vikings aren't going to tank the season.
  20. I think you're right that if Correa gets hurt, we're in trouble. But that's pretty true for most players of his caliber. You don't lose a 5 WAR player and just shrug it off. I also agree with you on catcher, although fangraphs projections are a lot more bullish than I would have guessed. Hopefully they are right. But I think this article was, more or less, looking at projections and the projections have some health built into it.
  21. ? I think one of us is simply talking past the other.
  22. Player, not position. Fangraphs have the Twins tied with Cleveland in total projected WAR 11th overall at about 44 WAR. (It's essentially a 7 or 8 way tie, really). And the article actually had DH as a 2,0 WAR overall position.
  23. I think this article is about right. Kiriloff is the obvious difference maker but the wrist is a huge problem. If he could be healthy, I'd swear he'd be a consistent middle of the order bat. But the injuries have really messed it up. It's depressing. I think Rocco's quote is accurate, the Twins will use DH and 1B as a "mix-and-match" position. I'm not sure that's ideal but it's what they are going to do. They have enough bats to find some decent production out of first base but they won't be top 10 there.
  24. No surprise but I hope he does well where ever he lands. Fun player to root for.
