I would love to see any of these guys in a Twins uniform! I don’t see how it will happen. The FO will not part with under performing vets or bench players who have saved the team so far. Those 2 additional September 1st spots will go to players returning from the IL 🫤
When Buxton returns to CF (I do believe he will), what can we realistically expect? It is not likely to be the “nothing but raindrops” version. CF is about speed and instinct. No doubt the instinct will still be there. How many elite sprints are left in those knees before we’re left with a slower option than MAT?
So hard to guess at what a playoff roster might look like. This FO seems to make personnel decisions based on contracts, personal favorites, Boras and rigid adherence to analytics instead of... well, baseball!
Which only illustrates how worthless OPS is as a stat. It's like trying to combine bench press and sprint speed in football and then trying to figure out if you're looking at an offensive lineman or a WR.
A rehab assignment would allow Buxton to play 2 or 3 innings a couple of times to work up to game form. It would be difficult to manage that in an MLB game.
The loss of the Bally revenue has got to have an effect on payroll going forward. MLB or whomever takes up the broadcasts is not going to pay anywhere near those $$$.
Thought Duran looked like his old self last night. Was wondering why he pitched in a non-save situation. Perhaps to give him a less stressful outing to reset?
Playing 1st base for the Twins right now is not exactly run of the mill. You're either scooping up laser 1 hoppers from Correa, or "anybody's guess where it is going" from Polanco/Lewis. Many times they have used all of Gallo's 6'4" frame. That doesn't sound like a situation you want to throw your best young contact hitter into while he's still adjusting to the majors.
