Yes, Correa and the Twins are a great match. I'll admit I wasn't on board at the beginning. I knew he would be a superstar level athlete, but was hesitant about his character. The trashcan thing, the Dior comment etc. I could not have been more wrong! His leadership and commitment to the team have impressed. He literally played on one foot last season! You can see he genuinely cares about his teammates and their growth and success. And it is a blast to watch him play the game!!

The better question is whether C4 is relieved to have spurned the coastal flakes and accepted the proposal from the solid, reliable mid-westerner. He is playing like a happy man.

We know the Twins love flexibility in their position players. Perhaps Varland becomes a utility pitcher. Has there been such a thing?

Platooning to this extent would be a winning strategy if both sides of the platoon had equally good hitters. Margot, Santana, Farmer and Vazquez are hitting so poorly that they are giving away more in OPS than is being gained by the platoon.

And this makes Rocco vulnerable to being gamed by an actually good baseball manager. They know what buttons to push to get Rocco's lineup twisted around!

Articles like this are exactly what has diminished the value of the Twins Daily site. Nonsensical content used as click-bait.

Welcome to the Correaissance
NotAboutWinning replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Set aside all the obtuse baseball statistics, and just watch him play! Physical abilities, baseball IQ and leadership. He is absolutely worth $30 million. Just imagine what the Twins would look like with a pitcher and an outfield bat to match! Totally doable if they had a league-average payroll 🙄🙄 -
Byron Buxton/Carlos Correa - 50 million?!?
NotAboutWinning replied to GeorgeLooney's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I don't think the $50 million is the problem. Not outrageous in the current baseball environment. But committing to those contracts and then cutting payroll by $30 million is. Someone changed horses mid-stream. Don't know if it was Joe or the family ownership, but this is going to be a problem for the foreseeable future. -
Stop with the insane platooning already! First it ruined the offense, now it has messed up the defense. No one other than Correa and the switch-hitters is getting any consistent playing time. I've heard the argument that platooning has been part of baseball forever. Yes, you swap out a .600 OPS lefty for a .600 OPS righty in the hopes that the match-up will net you a few more points of OPS. You do not swap out a .950 OPS lefty for a .500 OPS righty and expect to get a better outcome! And you don't pinch hit in the 5th inning because, surprise, that batter come back around to haunt you in the 8th inning! This is baseball 101.

There is some creative accounting going on there. The Brewers franchise is estimated to be worth $1.6 billion. Unless the owner has $1.2 billion in debt and no other assets, they do not have a net worth of $400 million. If that is the case, they should not be an MLB owner.

If you are wealthy enough to own a professional sports team, it is not a business, it is a luxury. It is the entrance fee to a world of privilege and prestige none of us can imagine. Profit and loss are not relevant in this context. You don’t buy a Picasso and then report yearly P&L on it. If you want a revenue stream, sell the team and buy more banks!

I could never understand how the team can boast about Ks with their pitchers, and then turn around and say they are not worrisome for their batters. Makes no logical sense. Haven't looked at the stats, but the Twins seems to have found a good mix of getting on base and power. And it has been a much more exciting brand of baseball to watch!

Let's give some love to Vazquez. He called a great game and kept the Mariners guessing most of the night. SWR commented on it in the presser. And oh by the way, he hit a sac fly to add an insurance run!

Honest question here… do the non-Ballys RSNs (Yankees, Mets, Cubs, Dodgers, Red Sox, and Astros) rely on cable revenue to the same extent?

I can't decide if the FO is so inept as to believe DeSclafani could actually be the 5th starter... Or if he was just a strawman they could put up to convince the fanbase they had built a 5 pitcher rotation.
