I agree. Correa needs some rest. I believe he has played through a tremendous amount of pain. The effects showed first in his offensive production, and it is beginning to show in his defense. We all have our opinions about whether he has earned his $33 million paycheck. I have gained huge respect for him. Leaders do hard things that others are not willing to do. I am ashamed to be a Twins fan when I hear the boos at Target Field.
I'm not buying it. How could Fallvey think the 2022 team had enough potential to make those huge trades, while the 2023 team is in much better shape and needed a couple of minor pieces. I believe ownership shut them down at the trade deadline. Anyone's guess as to why.
If anything, the recent changes brought baseball back to it's more natural form. It is sad that it took technology to do it, but pitchers and batters were never going to correct the slowing pace on their own.
It's always been obvious that the Yankees, in Yankee Stadium, got calls their opponents did not. As to baseball as entertainment, the number of clicks and shares the bad calls get is crazy! MLB might want to keep milking the free exposure.
The system may not be ready for full time use, but the challenge system would be a perfect way to counter these awful performances by the umps. The challenge literally takes 2 seconds. It would eliminate the atrocious calls from impacting the outcome of the games. It would also diffuse the rising animosity between the players and the umps. It might even improve umpire performance if they are getting immediate feedback on their calls. Win-win.
