  1. And what damage did that dugout confrontation do to the attitude of the rest of the team? They certainly aren't looking like a relaxed, confident bunch of teammates!
  2. The current FO will be here as long as the Pohlads are happy with their asset management. The Pohlads are not baseball lovers who own banks, they are bankers who own an MLB franchise. Their asset is the franchise, not the team. That asset has appreciated from 44 million in 1984 to 1.4 billion today. So we all get to watch asset management at its finest instead of major league baseball management at its finest. I think this is the case with many small market, Central Division (American and National) teams.
  3. There is in an imaginary team... keeping the math geekery going 😄
  4. Yes, because that is our super power! 🤣🤪🤣
  5. I don't think it is the coaches. I don't think our offense is getting good analytic/scouting information. On the pitching side it seems fine. They look well prepared for the batters they will see and have an advantage. But most games, our batters look lost. Almost like they are not facing the pitcher they prepped for. Bremer mentioned yesterday that batting practice was set up to mimic Gausman's pitching. And they did well against him. That just seems to be the exception rather than the rule.
  6. I believe they can make it to the ALCS. They are not a bad team playing badly, they are a good team playing badly. I have hope they can reach their potential (in spite of the dead weight of their manager/FO).
  7. Strikeouts have the disadvantage of not putting any stress on the defense. This especially relevant against weaker teams. Miscommunication on a pop fly or a weird bounce on a weak grounder can result in getting on base. I would be more ok with the strike outs if our batters could make the adjustment to simply advance runners when needed. I think that would improve our bases loaded production immensely!
  8. How often does a team strike out 17 times and score 9 runs? Felt like we stepped into an alternate reality in the 8th 🤣
  9. Tension? Hard to imagine enough passion from either Baldelli or Kepler to ceate tension 😐
  10. Laughing... crying... so many tears! Truly one of your best Stu!! 🤣😭😂
  11. Great article Cody! Spot on! An entire lineup (some returning players, some new) does not forget how to make contact all at once. They are being led down a bad path. In an interview during spring training Falvey alluded to a new, "super" analytic system that no other teams have. That would be my prime suspect!
  12. This situation does not make any sense. These are Major League Baseball players. Some better offensively than others. But as a group, they should be at least league average. Something is getting in their way. They are not the Oakland A’s, who are group of mostly AAA & washed up players. They are not a rebuilding team composed of young, inexperienced players. They are highly skilled, experienced and competitive athletes. Something is getting in their way. It is not 1 or 2 players. It is across the lineup. Something is getting in their way. Is it Baldelli or Popkins or “the process” or the FO?
  13. The Twins are striking out by the dozen. The Saints are scoring runs by the dozen. What is wrong with this picture???
  14. No, these teams and MLB will not be able to replace this revenue. They shouldn't have had it in the first place. It is a bad business model. It is the reason Diamond is bankrupt. It has fueled insane team valuations and player contracts. Time for a reset!
  15. This is enough to give a First Assistant to the Bench Coach a migraine 🤪 You all are a hoot! Thanks for the smiles!
  16. The phrase "hot mess" comes to mind 🤬
  17. Not Rocco's call. That's all on Falvine!
  18. Warren Buffet has made a lot of $$$ being a value investor. I think it is a very valid way to approach building a pitch in staff as well!
  19. Lou, your repertoire of dry-walling puns is impressive!!
  20. A question for those with much more baseball knowledge than myself regarding bullpen management... Has the AAA merry-go-round approach become the norm? How many teams these days set a bullpen roster and stay with it, barring injuries?
  21. I agree. A phenomenal pitching staff is what is keeping the Twins in 1st place at this point. I miss Arraez. But, honestly, his on-base skills would be wasted when there isn’t anyone hitting behind him.
  22. Wishing Miranda a quick turn-around and hoping this is the thing that breaks the spell!
  23. In this age of analytics, is there a stat that indicates "Baseball IQ"? Basically, an understanding of the game at a fundamental level and the ability & discipline to play good fundamental baseball. For instance, what will most likely score runs with bases loaded and 0 outs (hint, it is not a grand-slam).
