  1. Contreras not on 40 man roster that i know of so someone would have to be waived or put on the 60 day IL list ... Let's start Buxton in centerfield and solve the problem and hopefully he stays healthy , He wouldn't have to play every game but a few home games would be nice to see him in person and add some excitement to the game ... If he gets injured , he gets injured , too bad so sad ....
  2. Interesting but not surprised ... If the Yankees can afford to dfa 30 million , then the twins a mid market team can afford to dfa pagans 3 million plus salary ...
  3. Looks like we'll be talking again about the bullpen for quite awhile this season ... Will it ever change , injuries , over usage , performance meltdown ... Yes it has been a better start for the bullpen , one thing I noticed is that Jax is definitely being over used on consecutive days , he's walking more than last year ... Last year Rocco would let his starters go no more than 5 innings mostly and this year the starters are going 6 plus innings regularly , relief pitchers Rocco seemed to use every other day in 2022 and this year it seems to be 2 days in a row then a rested day , seems to me since the shortened 2020 season and lack of reps the FO and Rocco were protecting the pitchers from injuries through 2022 , now that they have been building up innings and strength since 2020 the FO and Rocco thinks it's safe to be more aggressive with the pitching and allow them more starter innings an using relief pitchers on a daily basis ... Just not enough quality experienced arms in the bullpen at the moment ... That what it seems to me ...
  4. Who's on first , whats on second and I don't know who's on third ... 12 strikeouts , this is ridiculous , if Joe Ryan was pitching against the twins tonight it would have been a no hitter .... This team has no harmony , no vision , no clue what the right approach is other than swing for the homeruns and strike out .... Someone help Larnach , he has trouble with the curve ...
  5. Should of woulda could of ... I like Jax and evidently Rocco does too but he is being used to much ( don't pitch him consecutive days ) 2 walks tonight against the angels , walks will haunt ... Rocco is handling pitchers differently than last year starters barely went beyond 5 innings , now they go 6 plus innings , relief pitchers he used primarily every other day last year , this year he is using relief pitchers on consecutive days ... so it seems the farther away from the shortened 2020 season , the more the FO and Rocco think the pitchers are less likely to be injured ( meaning they babied the pitchers to build up their strength over the past few years so now it's safe to overwork and pitch them more ) ... Yes we could of used an arm via free agency , look what the cost was to acquire an all-star J. Lopez at last year's deadline ...
  6. I'd say alittle of both but tend to lean towards our professional coaches who should take the criticism ... I have said many times that the coaches have the talent but don't do anything to take that talent to another higher level ... Must be a easy job being a coach and getting a pay check too ...
  7. My thoughts exactly after some of the prospects got traded at last year's deadline ... Let the good times roll in this tears draft , let's get a great pitcher if it's available ...
  8. I've posted this many times and Miranda is the example here ... You need 3 years to evaluate a players performance before you know exactly what that player could be ... While everyone was excited by Miranda's performance in 2022 with the bat , he batted nicely after his 1 day demotion but faltered towards the end of the season , that raised concerns with me that he could struggle in 2023 , yes he had shoulder problems in spring and it could be a factor to his messed up swing ,,, he also toned up and added muscle which could have decreased his flexibility ... He looked dreadful and lost at defense and hitting and was hurting the team ... He may get it back for another try in the MLB but could be out of baseball in a few years , it's his future to get better ...
  9. This makes a whole lot of sense , I hope Lewis stays healthy and plays well in st Paul and forces them ( FO ) to activate him may 1st ...
  10. Pagan , is he still on the roster !!! Pagan can't throw strikes and when he does it is a disaster , no way should he be anywhere but at the bottom of the list or thank him for his service and don't let the door hit him on the way out ...
  11. The boys of summer ... Boys will be boys ... They need to stand tall and be men ...
  12. Definitely a Heartbreaker , this was a winnable series and we botched it ... I believe , but am always disappointed , the strategy never changes ... Who is accountable , the players , the hitting coach or the players manager or the plan of the FO ...
  13. It's a clean sweep in yesterday's games as the twins also won against the dodgers ... It was a good day ...
  14. The good ... Sonny Gray has been a good trade but gave up chase petty , Lopez has been okay but recently has lost his pin point control from his first five starts and cost us ( major leaguer ) arreaz a hitting machine ... The bad however you look at it , acquired for post season run ... Dyson the vacuum cleaner totally sucked in 2019 as he experienced injury right from the get go and cost the twins 3 fringe prospects at the deadline ... Mahle had injury concerns and we traded at deadline for him , he pitched a few good starts and became injured again , this season he's back and had some starts ( 5 ) with alittle success but lost to TJ surgery and the cost was Steer ( playing in majors with Cincinnati ) , Encarnacion-Strand a good looking hitter in minors and hajjar a left handed pitcher ... More bad , acquired during off season ... Maeda was another injury risk and the cost was graterol ... we got a short season of good pitching from maeda in 2020 , 2021 we got ( 21 ) starts that turned out to be mediocre pitching before his TJ surgery ... Paddock was injury prone and we traded Roger's and Rooker and got Paddock and Pagan in return , Paddock pitched decently to start the 2022 season but fell to his second TJ surgery , pagan was a disaster in his first season with the twins and nobody ( twins fans ) wanted him back for 2023 ... The cost or risk however you look at it was significant , have any of the trades helped the twins , the jury is still out on some but closed on others ... The question is , is the FO the smartest people in the room ...
  15. I not sure the batting lineup has a silver lining at the moment with so many hitters struggling to produce in batting average , clutch hitting , adjustments with two strikes and if the manager doesn't like to steal bases , maybe the hit and run would be the answer ... ... The only way to go is up ....
  16. Jax is being over used by the manager pitching consective days and 4 days a week might be alittle to much and is contributing to his ineffectiveness to throw strikes ... No real comment on the mahle trade other then the FO thinks they are the smartest people in the room , 4 bad trades for injured or chance of injured players , Dyson , Maeda , Paddock and now Mahle ...
  17. I can't disagree with any of the posted responses to the written article ... It's sad and repulsive that the twins defense and offense are playing so poorly and seem to be regressing , I hope the pitching doesn't follow ...
  18. Nice to see there are wins in twins territory even if it is the minor leagues ... thanks for the details ...
  19. Tough decisions but the most obvious is the plan with the lineup ,,, We have to manufacture runs , a contender finds all ways to score runs and not solely rely on tge homeruns .... Need clutch hitting with bases full , 33 times we have loaded the bases and only twice have we scored ... Wake up coaches and get your players to maximize their talent because baseball seems to be going backwards and a .200 BA is ecceptable now a days and a player remains on the roster , when a near a near .300 BA was the norm years ago and if you couldn't hit you were sent elsewhere ( only players that stayed on a team years ago and were light hitters was Shortstop and catcher ) which were very important positions on defense ... I would like to see first a killer instinct , consecutive hits in a row , singles , doubles , triples , walks , bunts , changing hitting approach with runners in scoring position , keep finding ways to move the runner into scoring posture like a hit and run , if you don't like stealing a base , the manager should compromise with a hit and run ... Just make the game more exciting again , please make the game more exciting ...
  20. It's the worst uninspiring baseball since the 2019 juiced ball ... Too bad someone isn't intelligent enough to tell the manager that the ball isn't juiced anymore ... To bad I just don't get it that they can't make adjustments to make the game more exciting to compete ...
  21. Unfortunate for maeda and mahle being injured but a great opportunity for Ober and varland to develop for the future , will enjoy watching our young arms pitch , and we have SWR , enlow and Blaze still developing hopefully to follow ...
  22. Bumpy road , I think not ... The road series had so many pot holes , I now have to get a front-end alignment .... Rocco talks about all the skill the players have , I've yet to see it perform in harmony ...
  23. I sure miss our batting champ and urshela's bat too , someone stated yesterday that urshela is hitting .300 ... Almost lost Correa's bat to but managed to re- sign him but he's slumping along with Miranda and Gordon , everyone I just mentioned hit 270 or better last season , We need hitters that hit and get on base , we dont need everyone to be a homerun hitter ...
  24. I wish management and the players would realize that the fans are frustrated and bored with the way they play the game ... Is it worth spending money on bad entertainment , Rocco stated he is happy with the way his players are performing , he did not elaborate if it was the pitching players or the lineup players , the lineups are terrible , running bases again are not good ... Must be blinded by the light cause this is a terrible approach to just swinging for the fences , singles , doubles , triples and walks can manufacture runs ... We can't seem to get consecutive hits in a row , cleveland did against Ryan on Sunday and they won the game ... I have a great passion for the game but it's difficult at times , especially that they don't seem to fix the product to a more exciting style of play for the fans ,,, We have had some good bunts this year and it was exciting ... Go twins ...
  25. I hate to say it but the sophomore slump has gotten to him ... He's out of wack with his swing and defense has been below average ... Miranda is doing more harm being on the team with bad defense and hitting ... Solano would be next, defense hasn't been good and hitting isn't what it was at the beginning of season ... Castro doesn't hit much but plays infield and outfield and he switch hits , defense is better than the others ... Defense and pitching win games ...
