  1. It would be nice for Rocco to find a lineup that works well and stay with it as much as possible ... Kepler ( for sure ) and Gallo shouldn't be batting high in the order
  2. The twins way , good defense, fundamentally sound and exciting baseball ... The new twins way is keeping the fans confused ,,, Urshela's bat and defense was good , our offense only had 5 players hit over 270 last year , we traded Urshela , arreaz and lost Correa's bat and then we didn't so that was a blessing to keep Correa ... We need offense and players need to step up and have a better plate discipline when behind in the count ... Yes we have a surplus of left handed hitting outfielders and signing Gallo and not trading Kepler is confusing .... We have plenty of depth though , I would like to see the younger past propects get some of an opportunity if healthy to show what they can be moving forward ... We have depth which is comforting in away , better depth than the current FO has shown us ...
  3. The teams were all consistently competitive back before free agency , with the same player year after year ... Dave goltz had some very good seasons with the twins and as stated above the run support just wasn't there for him as he battled against other pitchers like Nolan Ryan, Jim palmer and the rest of Baltimore's pitching staff , catfish hunter and the rest of Oakland and Yankees pitching staff , there was alot of great pitchers he went up against and kept us in the game ... Calvin was cheap and let him walk , he might of kept thriving in minnesota rather than the west coast as the early 80's turned ugly for the twins until the twins meshed and won a world series in 87 ... Thanks for the memories ...
  4. Radcliff had a passion for the game and excelled at his job , he probably never felt like it was a job but a kids game when he was on the field with the prospects ... Condolences to the family and friends of Mr Radcliff ... There is baseball in heaven ...
  5. A solid starting pitching staff with depth and as posted by others is the best depth this FO has accumulated up to now ... It's a solid staff and enough to be competitive and win the division but I still question if it is good enough to contend and beat a playoff team ... Time will tell , we'll see them win the teams they are supposed too but I will be watching how they compete against the better teams and a quality pitcher ... Go twins ...
  6. If healthy they both should do just fine , they have the potential but larnach may start in AAA due to the depth of the outfield and lack of reps the past 2 seasons , if he is hitting and playing well and Kepler or Gallo can't produce in the batting order over the mendoza line , the best player should be playing on the roster for the twins ...
  7. The FO has solidified our depth in most areas except the bullpen still need some help in my opinion unless some of the prospect starters make the team out of spring training as bullpen long relief guys which should be a must considering the pitchers pitch only 5 innings and 85 pitches and never a third time through the batting order ... If a pitcher Is on his game let the pitcher pitch , I'd rather the starting pitcher gets the quality start or the loss than a beat up bullpen ... I hope that Rocco changes this year on how he uses his pitchers ... I too hate the loss of arreaz as his offense as a sparkplug will be greatly missed until someone else steps up , Luis was so fun to watch as a major leaguer , even if some didn't think he had defensive value ... In my opinion he had plenty of defensive value as he loved the game and would play anywhere you asked him too .. If he had any defensive issues , they were made up by his offense... pure and simple ...
  8. Chris Williams was drafted the same year as jeffers , if batting average doesn't matter he hits the long ball which the twins seem to be lacking , could be a 1st baseman or DH and a occasional catcher ... Has flexibility , let's see how he does this year in a full season of AAA , no one picked him in the rule 5 draft so maybe he just might be a good player but not major league caliber ...
  9. Joe Ryan has the MOJO presence on the mound ... I'll still need 3 seasons to evaluate what Joe will be as a pitcher ... His rookie year had its ups and downs , winning against poorer teams and not winning against better teams , did he make adjustments in Sept, we will see ... Go Joe and twins ...
  10. Not a forgotten player , just a player that needs to go get regular playing time and focus on his offensive , Hitting and base running and some throwing to tge right bases ... He should be back up playing mlb baseball with the twins or another team , he should not be forgotten ...
  11. Well said , and also mikelink45 says he will wait until the second inning to tune in which should work ... A strike out leading off the game will not spark anything day after day ... Could Gordon be an option , what he showed last year he might be even better this year with more confidence ....
  12. Love his defense but his hitting he just seems lost in making adjustments ... If he stays don't bat him 1 through 4 in the batter order , play him as a defensive replacement off the bench ... It was an amazing year in 2019 as he and other players had career years that most likely won't be duplicated ... I never like trading players but a change of scenery could help Kepler with new coaching and advice , as a twin he's lost here in his approach ... If I'm the other team I see value in Kepler as a defensive specialist ...
  13. I'll have to wait and see the twins play before I can proclaim them winners ... They have depth at every position except maybe the bullpen , we'll see how they put that together in spring training
  14. We are taking a big risk on the arreaz trade ... Who will be our sparkplug at the top of the order , the twins offense only had 5 players that hit Over a acceptable 270 average and now 2 of those hitters are gone ... If there is no offense and run producers , all the pitchers have to pitch like an ace ... Let's hope the offense can improve at clutch hitting and string together some walks , hits , singles , doubles , not just solo homeruns ....
  15. I can not agree that the FO gets the other team to overpay ... See Lopez , mahle or even Dyson as recent deadline trades , I think we over paid at the deadline trades ... Maybe I would have agreed that the FO has gotten the other team to over pay during the offseason trades but not the deadline trades , the deadline trades have not worked out in our favor...
  16. This is Minnesota where players don't get recognized enough like east and west coast teams for HOF voting .... Took years for killebrew , kaat , Oliva and blyleven to get elected , carew and Puckett were first ballot inductees ... Mauer should get in but it will take some time ... Hall of fame should speed the process up and not wait 5 years to be inducted because the writers all have short memories ...
  17. Boy do we have depth now in the outfield , infield and starting pitching , bullpen still needs something intriguing ... Celestino will not have a position on opening day and now will go to AAA and improve on his hitting and running game ... Michael Taylor, welcome to the twins , finally a better replacement for Buxton if he is injured ...
  18. I'd live or die with the talent we have developed , We saw varland and SWR debut last year and they looked good ( composed and mature ) , ready for the next step when a spot opens up because of injuries , they will most likely start in AAA ...
  19. Who are the projects ??? As far as projects , balzovic and enlow as prospects need to show some promise .. Nothing is jumping out at me who we acquired as a project ...
  20. Not another plan ... The plan on how they play the game the past few years is unexciting but it's still baseball to a degree ... Their plan to acquire dumpster diving rejects didn't work at fixing them with tweaks ... Their plan has changed again for acquiring pitchers and it seems to be better going forward with a better squad of estabished starters that they hope stay healthy or they can tweak a few things in their delivery to make them better ... So much for hearing the pipeline had up and coming pitching prospects that we won't see much of this year unless there are injuries ... FO's scouting reports must be terrible on our pitching pipeline if we won't let them pitch in the MLB by acquiring veteran starters ... I want to see that pipeline pitch , that is suppose to be part of the plan isn't it ...
  21. Good read , always love my heroes of my youth ...
  22. Let the kids play and if needed make a trade at the deadline ... I keep hearing we have talented prospects and former prospects , time to look through the window and see what we have in talent , quit the 40 man turmoil ...
  23. Maeda to bullpen to limit his pitching in long relief is a no Brainer coming off TJ surgery and if that isn't working then short relief .... Pagan ( reborn ron davis ) also should have been added to this list , I heard he was tweeking his pitching towards the end of last season and the twins staff was impressed with the results in mop up duty , time will tell ... Megill had stretches of good and bad , so figure out the good and turn him loose ... Not much confidence in coaching pitchers since the wisler addition ...
