Bad news ... This was a very upsetting home series with Detroit winning 3 games in our home , embarrassing really .... All I can say is that these two teams are terrible , bad disciplined baseball and Detroit out played us ... 14 strikeouts , 7 hits , mental errors , bad base running again by Solano , Varland not on his game again , I'm really pulling for this minnesotan to take us the distance , he's worked hard to get here , maybe driveline will work for him this off season like Joe Ryan did last off season ,,, Good news ... Welcome to the show ... Balazovic made his debut and pitched fairly well for 3 plus innings , 1 walk , a few hits and some strike outs ( no runs ) , big fella throws in the mid 90's , I'm sure they will option him back to st. Paul ... I hope all the twins make reservations for driveline this winter because they need more help than they are getting from our staff ...

Looking back at 2019 and 2020 playoffs the hitting was poor in each series cause they went up against better pitching ... Now the hitters make very little contact with any pitcher these days ... The twins went out and traded at the deadline last year ... alot of us didn't think we were serious contenders for the playoff last year and didn't want to add ... Alot of us thought they were going to win the Central , and the FO added players with team control mostly in trading off prospects which was a good trade off and not just for rental player's ... The players acquired at deadline and our regular player's under performed and injuries hampered our goal to the division title ... This year going into this season minus a couple of our better hitters from last season being traded were replaced by Gallo , farmer , Solano and Taylor , also Miranda was demoted after a month in April ... On paper there was concerns about our lineup that the fans questioned , and now performances of the players have answered those questions in a bad way , unwatchable baseball ...

Williams was drafted in the 8th round of 2018 same year jeffers was drafted in the 2nd ... I have been following Williams for a few years and he does seem like a late bloomer if you compare him to jeffers ( jeffers debuted in 2020 ) , Williams been a slugger in the minor leagues and now since he reached AAA last year has primarily played first base and DH ... If the twins are going to keep him and not trade him , I'd like to see a late season call up and see if he can adjust to MLB pitching .... How long has it been since we had a power hitting first basemen ( Morneau ) , and he's a right-handed bat , something the Twins need over garlick ...

He definitely is not the same player we have come to expect ... Are the twins being to cautious not playing him in CF or is he injured ... The FO seems to think that the players have a right to privacy and the fans don't need to knowxif he is suffering from an injury ... I wish the FO and Rocco would be more forth coming and communicate to the fans so we can cut him some slack if he is injured or just lay it on thicker if he's not ...

I know you like Julien as a hitter and not so much as a 2nd baseman , Julien bat has done well in a small sample ,,, I hope his defense does get better after the jitters subsides , what would you think of a veteran of Polanco as a DH ,,, I think Polanco for sure would be better than Buxton as DH and maybe would help him stay healthy , I posted this during spring training of my thoughts ...

The game of adjustments .... Baseball is a game of adjustments and the twins batters just don't seem to get it and maybe the plan the FO and manager have don't get it either ... We went against the opener , adjustment 1 ... Went went against 2nd pitcher , adjustment 2 and had some success ... We went against 4 other pitchers and adjustments 3 through 6 ... Rocco says the players don't need infield and batting practice so long as the players are prepared to play , they may take the field but they sure don't come to play ... To my knowledge we have played 3 games that the other team has sent an opener in to start a game and we have lost all 3 games , not sure this is correct on openers because I was out of town for some weekend series , cubbies , cleveland and others ... 3 losses to the team that starts an opener against us , did the players prepare themselves mentally for these games , did they look over Rocco stats sheets on each pitcher to see what they throw and where they throw it ... Are they prepared for adjustments in situational hitting with runners on base , the answer is obviously a no ... no because there is no consistency to their preparation of the daily game and it shows on a daily basis from one game to the next , they get lucky once in a blue moon and score a crooked number by hitting a few homeruns , rest of the game they can't seem to string any hits together to score any runs , can't even hit a sacrifice fly with bases loaded and no outs , can't seem to hit the pitch to the opposite fields , the list goes on and on ... can't wait until Lee gets here and starts hitting the gaps for doubles , doubles have been way down for the twins hitters , ( when was the last time we had a player hit 40 doubles in a season ) ... People are saying strikeouts, batting averages don't matter , if you don't make contact it definitely matters ... Whatever happed to the purist form of baseball in hitting , we have the purists form of pitchers and it is being wasted on mediocrity hitting ... The strikeouts gotta go ...

Seth either I wrote it wrong or you read it wrong .... I was stating that Gray was probably telling him he was good to go and im sure he was good to go because of his competiveness to help the team for another inning and Rocco saw something that wasn't right in grays start and didn't let him pitch the fifth ... I too like gray and all the starters

It just amazes me how BAD we play against BAD teams ... Twins found some runs early but Detroit scores 7 unanswered runs ... Sonny pulled after 4 innings , did he have another inning left in him , maybe so , I for sure would have brought him back for the 5th , he's a veteran and he wouldn't lie to his manager that he was good to go ... Pinch hitting , Kepler for Solano , why , Solano can hit right-handed pitching , his bat is hot lately and is pinch hit for ... Defense wasn't what is expected of a contending team ... I guess we put it behind us and tomorrow is another chance at a win , CHANCE is the key word ... Detroit wins 8-4 , man are we BAD ..

Oakland would take Williams in a heartbeat , he's there kind of player ,,, Twins would only have a dh spot for him unless of course there are injuries ... Williams was drafted tge same year as jeffers I believe ...

If I'm not mistaken , his option is based on plate appearances not games played , if Polanco gets to the number of plate appearances it automatically renews , if not the the FO can either renew , trade him or let him walk , wise choice would be to renew with two option years remaining and then trade if that is there avenue ...

Know Your Role: Lineup Edition
Blyleven2011 replied to Hans Birkeland's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I wasn't going to read this ... but I totally agree with everything you wrote , I've stated many times that the twins have no rhythm or harmony in their approach at the plate because they don't know their roles ... Lots of head scratching on the FO and managers plan , both times we faced an opener recently we weren't prepared ...- 27 replies

What Do You Do With a Problem Like Miranda?
Blyleven2011 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Problem , I don't see no stinking Problem ... If Minnesota keeps playing him exclusively at third base then I see a Problem because of Lewis manning third base and Kirilloff and others manning first base he has no position except as a bench player or DH and he needs to hit every day to stay productive ... If he can improve on his defense and I'm sure he can then maybe Lewis can move to second base or outfield with his athleticism but not in favor of that move to tge outfield ... Minnesota may know he needs a new home but are reluctant to find one for him, his new home could be with another team ... As usual the FO doesn't tell us anything on a players condition and that injured shoulder in spring training could have been the reason for his slow start and now maybe it's finally healing up and he's swinging better for hard hit contact ...- 62 replies

Twins 7, Brewers 5: A Twins Win to Remember!
Blyleven2011 replied to Steven Trefz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
That's Rocco being Rocco , I said the same thing , Lewis can hit righthanders but Rocco thinks the lefty match-upworks better ( huh ) , there has also been times where Kirilloff has been pinch hit for against lefthander and he can hit lefthanders ... Your starters are your best players , not the bench ... Lewis is not hurt ...- 51 replies

Twins 7, Brewers 5: A Twins Win to Remember!
Blyleven2011 replied to Steven Trefz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If it wasn't for Taylor and castro's stealing bases , where would the twins be in stolen bases , sure they could get caught stealing and cost us an out , but a double play costs us two outs ... Keep the runners running ... Bremer suggested Taylor could bunt to lead off the ninth like he did in Toronto to give the twins a spark ,,, that was the longest hit bunt i have ever seen dick , good call ...- 51 replies

You would think they would have announced that he was going to be available when his IL expired and not 1 hour prior to the Milwaukee series ... drawing fans to the game Is the Name of the game and if he is activated than our professional public relations person is not doing their job ... Sound familiar on not doing their job ... It's the twins way , keep the fans guessing ...
-
Where do we start ??? I don't really know what to say about the FO addressing the needs of the team ... They will probably do the opposite of what the fans think are right ... Gallo was a head scratcher this offseason , why did we acquire him , he's had bad production his past couple of years but they saw something in him just like they see something in pagan and Kepler ... If the FO does anything it will probably be another head scratcher unless they unload the 3 mentioned above ...

Twins Should Extend Tyler Mahle
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Schoenmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'd say alittle to early to be talking about an extention , Let's see how Ober and varland perform over the long season before thinking of an extention for mahle , yes you can never have to much pitching but an injured pitcher is worthless ...
