  1. Why be eager to sell the poor production against the pedigree/profile? I don't get it. Keep such guys in the system and bet on them to produce.
  2. That feels like an overpay to me. Along with selling low on two top 5 talents.
  3. I suppose it's been a couple days since we've discussed trading Carlos Correa, so it's ripe for discussion. ;/ But the idea of trading Kepler, Urshela or Polanco and holding on to prospects is palpable. However, it's hard to conceive of actual trading partners that will net us the pitching we need, and we'll also zap our major league depth, which we've been pushing the limits of all year. Can any one propose any actual trades that make sense involving the players listed in the article?
  4. The comparisons to TNG will always be there. I mean I revere TNG, but a lot of it was just bad and campy af. I feel you, that Picard Season 2 ruined a continued Q narrative is pretty unforgiveable. Discovery kinda jumped the shark for me too in the last two seasons, when the first few were great. SNW is a bit of a throwback, in that nearly all the episodes are self contained. The tone is a good combination of fun and seriousness. It's kind of nice I can forget about for weeks and just jump right back in. The simultaneous development of the Star Treks and the Star Wars has just thinned the writing and the production; while I love new content, I want good content; and the need to fill the new streaming services with content is at odds with that.
  5. It was bad. Stop doing the let's go explore what Star Trek characters are like in a random 20th decade. I thought Picard Season 1 was very good, and it looks the entire TNG cast (except for Wesley Crusher) is coming back for season 3, so I'll tune in. I've been enjoying Strange New Worlds episodic approach instead the serial drama that gets unsatisfactorily concluded.
  6. Anderson was comparing himself to Jackie because of the dearth of African Americans in baseball; not because his play was comparable. That's part of what makes Donaldson's comments so offensive.
  7. Such a strange comment in otherwise grounded post. Cron hasn't been a Twin for 3 years. We can play let's cherry pick former Twins all day long....
  8. Are we gonna pinch run for him each time too? Sigh.
  9. I'd argue that the distance between Rogers and Pagan is more narrow than Paddack and the Twins 6th best starting pitcher. In that sense this is as much about 2022, as it is about maximizing control and assets. Clearly the Twins believe in their pitching pipeline; and even if that doesn't bare fruit early this season, they can add to the bullpen at he deadline. The Twins are competing this season, but, as they should, maximize assets, even at short term risk.
  10. You're just cherry picking stats to fit a negative take. Look all the way to right on b-ref and you see that FIP number? That means he was having extraordinarily bad luck last year. The Twins will have much better defense behind him than what San Diego was putting out there.
  11. If there's not a deal tonight; I doubt it goes through. The leaks seem designed to move a deal along or test the waters potential names. I imagine the backlash from Rogers name being floated is outsized, perhaps the Twins could leverage that into more in return...
  12. I take exception to this. It's not a matter of effort, which your post implies, nor is it a matter of lack or respect or whatever. Some people's brains, like mine, don't discern errors because our brains fix them on the fly. I have typos, misspellings and missing words because of this in everything I write. And somehow I've managed to have three degrees in English, and one in law, having taught more than a 1000 students how to write. Sure, proofreading helps prevent this, but for one line posts, it's not worth calling out.
  13. They can be interested all they want but they can't have Rodgers. That would seriously hamper the bullpen, with only making the starting pitching marginally better. That said, it is three years of control verse one.
  14. Yes, but I threw that in that for sarcasm... Would you rather have Cueto at a higher AAV? This feels pretty low risk at 3.5, given the affordable two-year deal if he bounces back.
  15. What is it? The injuries? Are you suggesting you wouldn't trade Meadows for him?
  16. As long as you're not benching the lineup, yes. Prior to this move, prediction sites have us as a competitive team.
  17. There will be plenty of arms available at the deadline (think A's,O's,Red's,Marlins); this buys time to get there, to get our upper minor arms ready, and for those arms to rebuild value in anticipation of trade. But this will be it for the offseason.
  18. Thanks for this, but there were many interesting things from watching the whole thing. We've seen the quotes were C4 insinuates that he wants to invest in the Twins longterm, but I encourage everyone to watch just after the 21:00 minute, in response to a pointed question on the subject, Falvey responds, and his take is basically we've got this guy, we'll deal with keeping him down the road; and Carlos' response, just after, is pretty akin. Also, it's clear Rocco is a huge recruiting asset. And I didn't realize how articulate and measured Scott Boras is; an impressive dude.
  19. A bunch of guys are going to rotate through 1b/Dh/LF/C/3B. Potential for Sano/Kirilloff/Rooker, Sano/Sanchez/Arreaz, Kirilloff/Lanarch/Rooker/Miranda?, Sanchez/Jeffers/??, Urshela/Arreaz/Miranda to get many hundreds of at bats. Maybe not stars at the options, but quality depth, a lots of layers of protection from injury.
  20. Mlbtraderumors always puts out quality work and they even continually update their articles; it's a testament to what could have been a click-hole site given the subject matter.
  21. I wish people would stop making this an issue. 1) If he opts out, it means he had a fantastic season. 2) Lewis and Martin need more reps at SS to see if they can stick; but their bats are probably close to ready now. This buys them both at least one season to prove they can play the position. 3) We aren't prohibited from resigning him.
