  1. What a mess. Whether or not Boston's concerns with Graterol were legitimate after a medical review, those concerns never should have leaked to the press.
  2. I would be much less of a fan if the trade included either of those two over Graterol. I'd rather see the Twins add another player to the deal, or send cash, comp draft picks, int'l pool. There's plenty of room to get creative without dealing one of their true starter prospects.
  3. Proof? Meh. Can never have enough pitching. They still may have plenty of faith in those players, it's the pitching part that probably gives them pause.
  4. We traded a lot of potential, but with that, a lot of uncertainty, for a lot certainty in the middle of the rotation for FOUR years at a very cheap price whether Maeda hits his incentives or not. Given that Graterol was designated as a reliever, and the in-roads the Twins pitching coaches/techniques made with veterans last year, I really like this.
  5. You're a National League guy right? Check out Nathan's numbers. Scary good. On the Twins, tho
  6. Saw the first episode of Picard; really enjoyed it. Lots of callbacks to Next Generation that felt natural and not simply fan service.
  7. So what's the story with Knoblauch getting elected but not inducted? I have no memory of this.
  8. I would wait until the deadline on this. Is there a clear upgrade available in a trade? Price, Archer, Gray among others, have recent seasons of ineffectiveness. I just want more of track record before we give up assets and take on more dollars on a risk like pitching.
  9. Here I am the guy with too many English degrees and you teaching me about grammar. And, obviously yes to the first question. It's FRIDAY! Cheers, my friend.
  10. I skimmed past* "teammates" and conflated it with fans; so, to be fair, it wasn't quite that poorly. The only thing I added was that it could affect free agency. *I had to google whether to use past/passed, and I'm still not sure.
  11. Not only that. Trading him would chill other players' willingness to sign long term, and it may even effect free agency. Players value certainty as well.
  12. https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/battlestar-galactica It looks like USA might have the first two seasons; maybe you can download their app and stream it from there? BSG seems to rotate streaming services pretty regularly, it will be back on Netflix or Prime in the future I imagine.
  13. The critics are panning it for the lack of markers during time shifting, but the audience probably didn't care when things happened and add up the effect of it all even without knowing when..
  14. Expanse season 4 was underwhelming although still good. The Witcher was very good. I didn't think Henry Cavil could pull off Geralt, but he does.
  15. He had empathy for the surviving internalized baby rabbit at least. That shows a window for non-cruelty at least...
  16. Ugh I forget the number of teams. Why did I think 32 teams? Only 29 losers? That changes every thing. Cheers. Really.
  17. There are 31, er a mere 29,* losers to every free agent signing. Every fan base, each and every offseason, makes these same complaints, as if they are unique to their squad. The same people asking the Twins to strike it big, were advocating for Yu Darvish a couple years ago, who for a year and a half was worthless. (And willfully blind the history of really awful long term contracts for starting pitchers). Forgive me, if I find the crocodile tears from Twins fans on the 2nd day of the winter meetings more than a bit annoying, sanctimonious, and longing for self-awareness. *Edit for stupidity etc.
  18. I'm glad the Twins took advantage of his depressed value due to the PEDs; this could end up being a real bargain, and at relatively low risk at just two years.
  19. A couple years ago, I had hoped Gonsalves would turn into a Kevin Slowey, a guy with great minor league numbers who showed promise, if not lived up to, at the MLB level. That the Twins cut bait with him and his co-draftee Stewart gave me dismay, but wasn't surprising. The new regime has worked with these guys for three years; I believe they understand the limits of each's talent. With as much 40-man room and dollars the Twins have, I anticipate a lot of out-of-the-box pitcher acquisitions. We'll acquire pitchers through FA, waiver, rule-5, trade, indy league, etc., and while none (or few) will be household names, I like that the Twins aren't letting sunk cost get in the way of making roster space/taking risks/being bold.
  20. This reminds of the supposed book on Polanco: he couldn't play SS either. While Polanco struggled in the field, especially late in the season, he was the AL representative at the position. I hope the Twins give the same opportunity for Lewis to stick at short as they did Polanco.
  21. I liked the third season aside from the crappy stand-alone episodes. In hind-sight, there's inconsistencies and far-fetchedness, but when I watched the plot and reveal unfold in real-time I was riveted.
  22. I think you'll love it. Probably my favorite all time sci-fi series. Great characters, fabulous world building, cunning narrative twists. Just realize that it's probably half or a whole season too long. And the ending was bashed, but I enjoyed it.
