  1. I wonder what the rationale was in moving him to the rotation. Perhaps they just wanted to get him more innings, and the success is nominal. He's pitched six innings just once and his stat line is buoyed by a single 9 strikeout no walk 5 inning performance. Still, getting anything other than a headache cure for DY is a win.
  2. The lineup is arguably better with Doumit and Willingham than Cuddyer and Kubel. Added to that the health of Morneau, Mauer, Span and the emergence of Plouffe and *ahem* Revere make this Twins team far more watchable. However, the Twins starting pitching seems like the cast from an eighties B-movie. Seriously, a roundhouse kick from Patrick Swazey has more umpf.
  3. I vaguely recall a named scout connected to Nishi. There was (evidently and obviously) a glowing scouting recommendation for Nishi internal to the Front Office. I wonder if that scout still works for the Twins.
  4. Until we see more from Plouffe he doesn't really have a comp. He's taken some walks and give-me hits lately, so maybe he really can counter the leagues adjustments. I still can't see anything more than Rob Deer playing an erratic third base and walking a bit less--but that's been than the Twins have had since Koskie.
  5. I'm not sure how this can be successful. Their four man rotation consists of: Jeff Francis, Christian Friedrich, Alex White, and Josh Outman. More than that it devalues Gutherie, who they might be able to trade for some a shot in the dark if he ever put together a string of starts. The Rockies are throwing spitballs against the wall and calling it baseball.
