Where in the last season was any of the pejorative thrust about Correa relevant? Sure, he had a rep coming in; but that didn't quite bear out, did it now?
MLBTR does have some good original content; but reports like these don't need to be "articles"; I preferred when they were just aggregators of links and tweets, and not so much blocks of words.
Really hard to have envisioned a better outcome for the Twins. The FO deserves praise today; their patience, persistence and keeping an open dialogue with Correa/Boras paid off.
I appreciate your forward thinking; but I'm not sure any one of those players will even be worth extending. And Correa hedges against the lack of internal player development.
Surprising this hasn't resolved itself yet. I'm surprised the Mets haven't worked it out by now, if they could. I imagine there is another deal being worked on, and they are making sure all the physical/medical is done prior to announcing anything else.
This sounds right to me. The team may be willing to take the risk, so long as they can insure against that risk, but if the insurance company says no thanks, it will definitely push the team to reconsider...
My read is that this reaching the media is significant. Why damage the incoming star with this report/leak if it could be simply overcome? You can boo-hoo delaying a press conference/announcement for all kinds of reasons other than this. SF may be laying the ground work to pull out.
The only real asset the Twins gave up is Povich, who hasn't even reached double AA. I don't see any downside to this move, especially given the 2 years of control going forward. Heck of a move.
