  1. To those decrying about Martin, Lanarch, and the loss of flexibility on the opening day 26 man: did the Twins suddenly invent some salve to stave off injuries for the entire year? We will see a lot of Martin this year, maybe a significant amount given our team's injury history. Depth matters, as last year showed.
  2. Obligatory. Add in the 5.5 mil, that's at least on paper, very good value.
  3. A fine addition, in backing up CF from the right side. Miller didn't have a ML path forward, even if he does end up hitting. I hope some cash is coming our way as well.
  4. Is there any depth beyond Martin/Castro? That's my fear, Buxton getting hurt, one of those two getting plugged in, struggling, with zero depth behind them
  5. No one like replacement level players (though the names mentioned are better than that), until they realize that their system is full of far below replacement level players along with the pixie-dust hope prospects.
  6. Adam Duvall or MAT don't have a place on this team as a part time options? Isn't there TV money incoming? Yeah, no thanks to Kyle Garlick or Jake Cave.
  7. Maybe, and it's still a good deal. The Twins will roster the guy, and let the depth sort itself, which actually has value.
  8. No way is Polanco worth 3 wins more than Julien, Lee, etc at 2nd and the addition of Topa to the bullpen, and adding another above replacement level starter to give more flexibility. Again, those who don't like the trade, what other trade that added wins this year or better future value could be had? It's all just naysaying.
  9. You could be right, with the acquisition of both a starting and relieving pitcher, but it's hard to ignore is production in the bullpen.
  10. Let me get this straight: It's stupid to acquire top 100 prospects (or prospects in general), but it's prudent to hold on to them? Either you value (top 100) prospects or you don't. Even Martin's and SWR's future aren't yet written in stone, and you speak as if they are.
  11. 6 million plus more cash? I'm more than very surprised. Let's see where they use those additional funds. Wouldn't be great to see a TV deal announced by Feb 1?!
  12. He's got 3 to 4 years of control, and was very good last year. That's not worth a "7" but Anthony D probably isn't a negative value save for the contract either.
  13. Cherry pick much? I guess we should have traded Royce, Julien, and Wallner while they were still in the minors to really get that value. sigh.
  14. There's Julien and Lee who both will need spots, though at different times in 2024. Polanco, as long-loved as he was, was the piece to trade given his salary, and his recent injury history. The best case was always to trade Polanco for prospects, and flip those prospects for major league help. This deal kinda accomplishes both, or at least gives us placeholders to explore our pitching depth and let it develop. Too many are acting as if prospects are nonfungible. Maybe this trade makes it easier to deal prospects to acquire a player like Burnes at the deadline. It's an objective good trade. Subjectively, it's sad to see Polanco go as our longest tenured Twin (along side Kepler).
