    There are 31, er a mere 29,* losers to every free agent signing. Every fan base, each and every offseason, makes these same complaints, as if they are unique to their squad. The same people asking the Twins to strike it big, were advocating for Yu Darvish a couple years ago, who for a year and a half was worthless. (And willfully blind the history of really awful long term contracts for starting pitchers). Forgive me, if I find the crocodile tears from Twins fans on the 2nd day of the winter meetings more than a bit annoying, sanctimonious, and longing for self-awareness. *Edit for stupidity etc.

    I'm glad the Twins took advantage of his depressed value due to the PEDs; this could end up being a real bargain, and at relatively low risk at just two years.

    A couple years ago, I had hoped Gonsalves would turn into a Kevin Slowey, a guy with great minor league numbers who showed promise, if not lived up to, at the MLB level. That the Twins cut bait with him and his co-draftee Stewart gave me dismay, but wasn't surprising. The new regime has worked with these guys for three years; I believe they understand the limits of each's talent. With as much 40-man room and dollars the Twins have, I anticipate a lot of out-of-the-box pitcher acquisitions. We'll acquire pitchers through FA, waiver, rule-5, trade, indy league, etc., and while none (or few) will be household names, I like that the Twins aren't letting sunk cost get in the way of making roster space/taking risks/being bold.

    This reminds of the supposed book on Polanco: he couldn't play SS either. While Polanco struggled in the field, especially late in the season, he was the AL representative at the position. I hope the Twins give the same opportunity for Lewis to stick at short as they did Polanco.

    Look, I said he was depth. Obviously another injury forced their hand (which is why you have depth). But had Kepler not gotten "injured" we may not have seen either one of him, given that we've carried Miller for more than a week without playing him until today. I imagine history is filled with players on September rosters who never played in a game.

    They do in September, in case of injury. How many at bats does Ian Miller have, btw?

    Just a depth move. Nothing to get in a tizzy about, or really have any reaction at all over. I doubt he plays.

    The "up yours" comment from Byleven needs way more love. It's just hilarious on so many levels: he's so bitter, the Fox Sports North guy is so petty, that record will never be broken, and Bert knows it. How fun!?

    Schoop's lack of position flexibility certainly hurts his ability to contribute. But as far as bench bat, and insurance should Arraez flutter, he's a great asset.

    Although his over all line is problematic, he has a .864 OPS in July. Also 10 home runs in a little over half a season at in the Florida state league isn't nothing to sneeze at (8 of those coming since June began), especially from an up-the-middle player. I think being out of Ft. Myers will help Lewis quite a bit. Obviously the Twins like his approach lately, or this promotion would not have happened.

    He was drafted in 2018, so no need to be added to the 40 for another year.

    Hate giving up Diaz after his resurgence, but the Twins are facing a 40 man roster crunch and with Rooker and Lanarch, I suppose he was expendable. That said, Romo better not be the only addition to the pen, because that is a meh acquisition.

    I think that's a field too far given that there has been a lot of talk about the Twins instituting new techniques to increase velocity.
