  1. I wanted to like that show, but something made me cringe. Let me know how it goes.
  2. I watched the first two episodes of the season and really just forgot about it, when Patriots second season dropped. House of cards is the kind of show that has a baked in ending, and they just kept pushing it off, until I don't even know what the stakes are anymore.
  3. I'm lukewarm on Mauer. At worst, he goes the way of Ichiro, and retires when he shows he doesn't have it. And at the right price, Mauer isn't a negative player (though of course, we'd want someone better, but with both 1B and DH open next year, I don't think he'd be blocking anyone right away).
  4. Smarty! And non-relevant, which I think is your point.
  5. How many languages do you know? I studied Spanish for several years and French, too. Neither stuck with me. It's harder and more time consuming to learn a foreign language than people are willing to grant, evidently. Do I wish he knew Spanish? Yes. Do I think it's fair to hold that he doesn't know Spanish against him? No.
  6. What I had heard was that he already talked to Mauer and would welcome him on the team. I'm not sure he's advocating for Mauer, but rather being respectful towards the team's most popular player whose on the cusp of retirement. I mean what is he suppose to say publicly about Mauer on the first day on the job?
  7. I don't see what his intelligence or his education have to do with learning Spanish. It's not as if he could learn it by osmosis, he'd need to study it and probably go through an immersion program, which would take time, likely time away from the work experience that led to the job he just got.
  8. I like his story, his pedigree, and his name. Well done, Twins.
  9. Some scholarships need to be renewed each year/semester. I had a student "lose" his scholarship when he tore his ACL at Western Michigan. Though it was before Fleck was there. But that's an anecdotal experience.
  10. Except for a track-record of putting that skill-set towards winning...
  11. I really enjoyed the Netflix show Maniac. It's weird, but really stylish and moving.
  12. Buxton turns out to be worth keeping at the age 28 season, I hope we sign him to an extension, making this issue moot.
  13. I hope we'll see both Lewis and Kiriloff in Arizona this Fall; but I think we can only take one single A player, is that correct?
  14. I say we run out multiple openers, and let the starting pitcher finish games.
  15. Why is he already shooting an already dead chicken dinner? Is this the point? It must be the point.
  16. That's optimistic with you thinking we'll contend next year.
  17. I, for one, am glad to see the Twins sell high on a controllable asset (esp. a bullpen piece). What's the old saying: better to sell to early than too late.
  18. Why not a three year deal; even with a team option for that third year.
  19. As fan, you never will. We're guessing at the return, and Chief, in his guess, suggests he'd keep Gibson. I'm inclined to agree. Gibson is awesome now, but his track record isn't encouraging and will effect his return.
  20. To be fair, do we ever know the alternative when they aren't traded?
  21. Sure, that's true. But the Twins have an exclusive opportunity to extend him, not much money on the books, and a keen need for top and mid starting pitching. There's more value in keeping then you're letting on.
