  1. I wouldn't drop Paddock. He could truly be a very important piece if they have to go to extra innings. Hate to drop Funderburk but IMO that would be a smarter play.
  2. I had been transferred from AZ to Iowa. I was sitting on the couch in our living room with a couple of friends and a couple of co-workers. We thought at the time the Twins had a real good chance to advance but we know how that worked out.
  3. My 1st thought when I read the title of the article was Solano. But, after thinking about it I have to agree with Castro. Where would the Twins be without any of these guys? FO did a real good job building this roster over the off season. Hats off!
  4. It would be interesting to break it down to pre-all star game and post all-star game.
  5. I don't know if Gausman was tipping pitches, or if they took the approach of laying off anything that started out low.
  6. Its early in his career but could Royce Lewis become the next Kirby Puckett?
  7. yes but I believe in that case Lewis would have to sit out the rest of this series AND next series.
  8. Maeda could start or open if they wanted him to. Depends on if he pitches any in relief I'd guess. Though I fully expect to see Ryan start. Probably be on a very short leash.
  9. It all depends on how he feels and looks. I had a grade 2 when I was in college and missed 3 weeks then played thru discomfort after for the rest of the year. Lewis is young and appears to be in great physical shape. I'd bet on him playing.
  10. I give credit to the FO for building a roster with so much depth. I was upset about not adding to the pen at the trade deadline, but their gamble paid off. A little concerned about all the lefties on the Jays, so hopefully our platooners can come thru! Nice that Berrios will pitch, but I still want to beat him!
  11. That's a lot of turnover. So many players that I had forgotten about. Great piece!
  12. Toss up between Astros and Blue Jays IMO. Jays have so many LH pitchers, Astros have so much experience. I'd rather play the Rangers I think.
  13. Well any thought about Keuchel on the playoff roster can be put to rest. Tough decision about Larnach. Is there any room for him? A little concerned about Thielbar though. Paddock is going to be a nice add to the rotation next year. I'm afraid we will lose Gray (I hope not) but Paddock is a pretty good replacement for him. Now its one more "tune up" game, then on to break the curse of "18" I hope!
  14. Sure brings back some memories. Some good, but some bad. The thing I notice quite a bit is lack of Starting pitcher depth. I hope this year we break the curse of the 18 and start a new trend. How about at least shooting for a winning record in Oct?
  15. That's almost painful to read. Ok, I think most if not all Twins fans know about the 18. How about we look for some positives? Like we made the playoffs that many times? A lot of other teams fans can't say that.
  16. Depending on who they will play and which pitchers I would say there's a chance Larnach gets included. He has hit fairly well recently between St. Paul and up with the Twins. If I see Gallo's name I will have to cry!
  17. If Lopez is pitching well I would let him come out in the 6th while someone else is warmed up in the pen. 5 innings is probably the right thing with Gray unless he is totally lights out. I think so much depends on what the hitters are doing also.
  18. I bet Ryan is glad he doesn't pitch in that stadium until at least 2025!
  19. The future looks bright! Dure is a lot of talent on the infield. I'm guessing there will be a few trades in the future, and they seem to be loaded enough to get it done. I can envision Severino being set up to become the regular 1b in the near future. AK could play LF.
  20. IMO Lewis is the key to advancing. Runs are usually hard to come by in the playoffs, and IMO he is the best "clutch" hitter, or at least was, when he went down. Otherwise, they have Polo and Kepler, and maybe Correa that will have to step up.
  21. As I understand it, the Manfred Man won't be used in the play offs, so there will need to be someone like maybe Ober in case the game goes to extra innings. IMO that should be an advantage also.
  22. Only time will tell, but this is the deepest team I can remember for the last maybe 40-50 years. On paper we can match starters 1-3. The thing I'll be looking for is can the bats come to play. They really need Lewis and Correa to be able to play. A typical playoff game is lower scoring, so the Twins need some clutch hitting.
