I thought the same thing. Nobody really gave them much of a chance. They got hot at the right time and guys that played their hearts out.

There’s One Team Twins Want to Avoid in Postseason
Karbo replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I honestly don't see any of the teams in the running that look like a sure thing. Seattle has great pitching, Texas has a great lineup, and Houston is well balanced, with experience. That leaves Baltimore and Tampa Bay. Show me a matchup that weigh favorably for the Twins. IMO, the Twins only advantage is the top 2 starters should be used (Gray and Lopez) and home field. -
Prospect Retrospective: Kody Funderburk
Karbo replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
1st game looks great. Can he be consistently good? I hope so as they need another quality arm in the pen. Bonus that he's a lefty! -
I would play him until we hopefully clinch, then use a rotation of field, DH, rest.

IMO Rocco made a big mistake when knowing Tex. would put a lefty in he batted Julian, just to set him down again. Julian is one of the best hitters on the team and he was left on the bench with out even an at bat. I would have PH Gallo instead, so when the leftie was brought in Julian would still be available later.

IMO the Twins can match up pitching with any of the wild card teams. Lopez and Gray can win the day. Once you get past that round though could be a bit more dicey. If any team has good lefties it could be a long series.

Another dif is in the "old" days you had American or National league umps. Pitchers and catchers in particular would have a better sense of their tendencies. Whether they called high or low or in or out pitches.

Is King Kenta a 2024 Contributor?
Karbo replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'd go 2yrs 15 mil per. I have a hunch they will also try to bring back Mahle similar to how they handled Pineda.- 39 replies

I wonder if the strike box is a little out of calibration. So many low strikes just below the box by so many umps. I agree with some of the announcers that the velocity that has become common makes some sort of auto strike zone a must. I've been watching games since 1960, and the amount of miscalled balls and strikes have become so common over the last few years that something needs to be done.

Kepler is a frustrating case. For a couple of years He thought he was a pure power hitter, even as many preached to use the whole field. Finally the 2nd half of this year he gets it. With Pagan, the "stuff" was always there, but the focus or drive or whatever was lacking. Gallo will go down as a major mistake, and maybe one of the worst FA signings in Twins history IMO.

IMO you need to add the coaching staff. There was a longer Spring training due to the WPA this year, so there should have been enough time to work on basic fundamentals.

How Did the Buxton Process Go So Horribly Wrong?
Karbo replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
At the beginning of the season I was under the impression he was only going to be full time DH for a while but that once we got into the summer and better weather he would go back to the OF. Obviously, that wasn't how the FO and Rocco felt. IMO he shouldn't come back this season unless he can play OF on a much more regular basis. -
Dallas Keuchel: A Pitching Oddity
Karbo replied to Theodore Tollefson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Will the real Dallas Keuchel please stand up? I will be interested to see how he does against a much better lineup with Texas.- 13 replies

The Top 5 Twins September Call-Up Options
Karbo replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree that they will use the call ups for injured players returning to health. However, I think down the stretch they will go with 6 starters to give them all some rest. Of course that depends on which version of Keuchel is the truth.- 61 replies

The Twins Must Use Byron Buxton in Center Field
Karbo replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
As far as I'm concerned, He plays in the field or not at all. I'm OK letting him get his timing back in St. Paul for a week or two, and if he has to DH to start, keep it in St. Paul.- 47 replies

The Change Driving Max Kepler's Heater
Karbo replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
He sure seems to have turned a corner. I hope he can continue as the Twins need him. Now, if they can get some of these guys hitting lefties they might have a chance. With these starters, aplyoff victory is possible, if they make it. -

I have been a Twins fan since the beginning. The Twins have had so many great players. Interesting to look at some of the great seasons they put up. Now if some of these youngsters can carry on they should be a good to great team in the near future, if management will get out of the way and let players that deserve playing time play, and get rid of some of the dead weight.

Analyzing Michael A. Taylor's Unexpected Power Surge
Karbo replied to Cody Schoenmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
No complaints. The Twins are getting more than their money's worth! -
This team was put together to hit HR's. That is the way this FO wants to play. A few GOOD on base type guys would really help. And the K's are down right embarrassing to watch!
