  1. Pretty much says it all. With their closest challenger selling, one of the easiest remaining schedule, and the fact that 1 or2 guys wouldn't be enough to make them serious playoff threats why give up any prospects? They should make the playoffs and get a couple of games at home so they will get some extra gate money at least. Now look forward to next year and hope the off season brings us some addition by subtraction!
  2. That is correct. Thats why I say, if someone claims him so be it.
  3. I agree with Twinkiefan. Listen to all offers. If they can pick up a couple of good players at positions of weakness, that can help beyond this season, maybe do a deal. But I would be against giving away a good prospect for a rental as this team is more than a player or two away from being a legitimate WS contender.
  4. Big mistake was the Gallo gamble. Could have added 2 good relievers on what they pay him. This FO has this fixation on guys that hit homeruns, instead of guys that can actually help a team win.
  5. I don't see them dumping Gallo with AK on the shelf. Also, since the rest of the division is selling, I wouldn't get rid of any of our top prospects for a rental. This team just have too many needs to expect it to compete in the playoffs, if they make it.
  6. They should listen to offers with an eye towards the future. Trading anyone at this point should be bringing in someone that can help win next year and beyond, as this year looks like a lost cause even if they make the playoffs, I don't give them much of a chance getting past the 1st round, especially if the other team has any lefties to put on the mound.
  7. Looks like Cleveland is willing to coast the rest of the year after trading Civale. Can't see much sense in trading any top prospects for rentals this year. Even if they make the playoffs I don't see them going far. Probably time to look to the future, when they can shed some of the dead weight like Gallo and hopefully get Buxton back in the field.
  8. At this point I don't know if it would be worth it to add, unless its addition by subtraction
  9. I'm guessing they keep Gallo with AK going on the IL, unless they get someone else that can play 1st.
  10. I have directv and the picture and sound is even off by about a second and a 1/2
  11. Anybody Ethe body else have a latency problem on Bally sport
  12. Would he accept a role in the pen? That's the biggest need as I see it right now. IMO, DFA Gallo, add Keuchel to the pen, hopefully Theilbar is ready to add then option Moran to AAA. As far as playoff caliber, I'm more concerned with even making the playoffs at this point. As many people seem to think that's a given, I'm not convinced.
  13. First of all, Gallo is no longer anywhere near a gold glover. His best position would 1st base IMO. I would much rather see Castro in CF than Gallo. Next is Gallo's horrible offensive stats. Sure he hits a bomb occasionally, but I would trade a Castro with his speed over Gallo every day. Gallo needs to go, period. Buxton needs to play OF, period. He is another dead spot in the lineup at DH! If he gets hurt IL him.
  14. Unless Buxton turns things around hitting I can't see the value in keeping him at DH. He belongs in the OF. Keeping him healthy for the playoffs? Wow, we certainly can't count on even getting into the playoffs. Let him play the OF. If he gets hurt then put him on the IL, free up a spot for someone who can hit. Rotate DH between Polo, Julian and Lewis with 3rd being Lewis as primary. DFA Gallo and put Wallner in left. Problem solved, and a better lineup. IMO the best chance to reach the playoffs, and maybe even win a game!
  15. The best bet for the Twins IMO would be to trade out Gallo for for Stevenson or Larnach. haven't had much of a chance to watch the Saints this year but Stevenson seems to stand out in box scores. Gallo was a big mistake and its time the FO admits it and moves on.
  16. He is what he is, a reliever that in a decent pen would slot in the 6-8 range. 8-10 mil? Not if it was my decision.
  17. I just keep thinking how they gave up on David Ortiz. Larnach needs a chance for more playing time facing MLB off speed stuff. Then make a decision.
  18. IMO its their money they have every right to do with it as they please.
  19. I would say Buxtons struggles this year are a major part but baseball is a team game. Rarely does 1 single player make that much of a difference. They brought in Farmer and Solano to help against lefties and in the past Garver has hit lefties very well. Missing Miranda againsr lefties is another minus. Factored in with Correa that would be 5 above avg. hitters against lefties. So IMO its a team breakdown more than in individual one.
  20. Without a trade I would DFA Gallo, move either Polo or Julian to 1st base (I would prefer Polo) slide AK to left, play Lewis at 3rd., option Larnach back to AAA. I don't know if Gordan will be back but I'd leave him in St. Paul, if someone claims him coming back so be it. If Buxton can't play OF he would go on IL.
  21. I'd call up Keuchel to see if his great start in St, Paul can carry over to the Twins
  22. I would say no to Middleton as this season seems to be an outlier (Think J.Lopez). I don't know if parting with the package for Robertson would be worth it as I just don't see us as true WS contenders. Cisnero and Fullmer would be possibilities if the asking price was reasonable. I believe we could do addition by subtraction in getting rid of Gallo and either get Buxton back in the OF or put him on the IL. Both of them are almost automatic outs and plugging up the roster preventing them from seeing what the youngsters that deserve a chance can do.
