  1. some things from another letdown loss. 1-Dis they not go over the scouting report on Keller? He's good, but not that good. 2-The strike zone the ump called was terrible. Hitters have to know where the zone is, but it doesn't seem the umps do. 3- What happened to the two strike approach many of the Twins hitters have used lately?4-Why weren't the Twins running more? Pittsburgh has a terrible time throwing out base stealers. 5-Another bullpen meltdown. Enough has already been said about this pen. The best part of that game was Audra Martin!
  2. You hit it right on the nose. Winder has real potential, but he needs to find his ceiling at AAA. There are other relievers in St. Paul and probably even in Wichita that should get a look at in the show. The only guys that are trusted with a late inning role are Pagan, Thielbar, Jax, and Duran. By my count that leaves 4 other spots that just don't get used much. When using at least 3 relievers per game, somebody gets over used. OK, so the FO seems to have dropped the ball at the deadline, don't compound the problem by standing pat with what they know.
  3. The guy knew how to win. I remember being upset when the Twins fired him, though not at all surprised. Didn't follow him much after that, but dreaded playing against his teams. He got the most out of his players, and his teams were usually fun to watch.
  4. The thing I've noticed is the "splinker" isn't dropping off the table like last year. My thought is he may be throwing it with a little too much velo. He needs some sort of change-up to mess with hitters timing. Throw 102 then 85 would mess anyone up I would think.
  5. Yes the Twins should use the option. I've been advocating moving him to 1st base for over a year. It would be easier on his lower body, and lets them shift AK to the OF. I think he would be a better 1st baseman than AK defensively. Next season shoul see Lewis, Correa, Julian, Polanco around the IF, with an OF of AK, Buxton, and Wallner. Primary DH maybe Larnach or some sort of rotation.
  6. Maeda stays starting. At this point, if they make the playoffs, it would seem between Ryan and Ober as to a 4th starter, with the other moving to the pen. I anticipate Varland coming up for a middle to long relief role. I don't cee Keuchel staying with the team, unless he looks a whole lot better in his next start.
  7. Leave him at 2nd for now. Give him some time to adjust. Word is that he's a hard worker, so I expect improvement.
  8. I agree that Polo would be a good choice. He isn't small, he's very athletic, and a move may save some wear and tear on his lower body.
  9. Its almost like the fun of 2019 ruined this team. All those homeruns. Now that the ball isn't juiced, and the rules have changed, this management team from Falvey all the way down to coaches, haven't adjusted. I'm not a big Rocco fan, but he can only play the guys he has. The gamble taken on Gallo will rate up there with the worse moves ever made by a Twins FO. What seems even worse to me is they never adjusted and just kept playing him. I could go on and on with what seems to be mistakes made by mgmt, but it starts in the FO being to slow to adapt.
  10. AK would move to left and Wallner could DH or play right if Kepler is gone, though I don't think he will be. To me the key is Buxton going back to CF.
  11. If he has that much experience at 1st in the minors I don't understand why they haven't tried it. Maybe he wasn't so good there IDK. I do think they would be wise to move Polo to 1st full time next year. Save the wear and tear on his legs. He is a good athlete and should make the change easily. History shows that the Twins have done this before with positive results.
  12. I think Gray gets a qualify offer, but I don't think he'll take it. I just get the feeling he doesn't want to stay. I could see Maeda going for a 2 year deal, if he wants to stay. I also think the Twins will offer a deal to Mahle, though it shouldn't break the bank. If gray leaves paddock could slide in to his place. If both Gray and Maeda leave they still can fill out with Paddock and Varland. Now if they can build up the pen!
  13. Who would get cut from 40 man roster to make room?
  14. I think Larnach will be up when rosters expand in Sept. I'd like to see Prato but with him not on 40 man probably not. Celestino may in Sept.
  15. If the Twins make the playoffs a major reason why is the backup and utility players. I don't think they're in 1st without them.
  16. I sure hope not. He's so young yet. Twins have had other infielders that were sub-par defensively but worked hard enough to become at least avg. and a few became good.
  17. Sample size is way to small on Wallner. Though he looks like the real deal, pitchers will adjust, and it seems that is what happened with Larnach. So the question becomes can Wallner adjust better than Larnach? And, can Larnach adjust enough to be a viable regular?
  18. IMO a move to lower in the lineup around the 5-7 spot would be the best move. I sure wouldn't keep him batting behind a guy with high OBA like Julian.
  19. The lack of hitting against lefties is getting old. If I was managing against the Twins I would use as many lefties as I could.
  20. I can see a future with Correa at 3rd, Lee at short, Julian at 2nd, and Lewis in the OF. Or would the Twins be wise to move Julian to 1st to bring Lewis onto the dirt and put AK in the OF?
  21. I think Ryan. With Ober struggling and Keuchel a big question mark they need Ryan to come back strong again.
  22. What is the exit Velo average at MLB? Exit velocity can vary based on whether or not the ball is moisturized with a humidor. From April 7 to May 22, 2021, the average exit velocity was 91.8 miles per hour (147.7 km/h) with a humidor and 92.8 miles per hour (149.3 km/h) without a humidor. I also found another answer of 89 MPH. I honestly don't know which is correct. But going by the eye test on Sunday there were not very many well hit balls. Squibbers and pop outs. I again will say that I can't judge anybody after 1 outing. Do I think he should be a regular in the rotation? No, not yet. And I can't see the Twins cutting back to 12 relievers for any length of time. Maybe when rosters expand trying 6 starters.
  23. Look it up. That's the facts as google reports.
