  1. IMO they should leave him on IL until he can go full tilt for a week or two. Probably won't be available for post season, but that's better than having him take up a spot with little to no production!
  2. I don't know if they trade him in the off season. They may want to see him healthy and hitting in the minors, and then try to get a better prospect or two, or maybe a good reliever?
  3. I think his speed and base running has been effected by his planter injury. He isn't fast, even when healthy. But he sure can play defense, which IMO makes up and more for his base running.
  4. The league has adjusted to him and now its up to him to adjust. I think he profiles better at 1B or OF defensively. Now he needs to work on stealing a few bases, like he did in the minors.
  5. Sad to see Francona go. He is a class act and a great manager. He has taken teams not expected to win and somehow got them at least competitive. The loss of Francona may really hurt that team. I also like Detroit. I thought they would be around a .500 team this year, but they could finish ahead of Cleveland anyways. Yes the Central is a weak division. But the Twins can win it, and once into the playoffs, with the starters this team has, they have a chance to at least win a game and probably even the 1st round. After that, IMO it will depend on their hitting if they can go further.
  6. That's why it needs to be changed to not before the 8th inning and only if you trail by 10 IMO.
  7. The true test for Royce will come during a full season. Can he stay healthy? Can he make adjustments as pitchers adjust to him? How will he handle that ugly slump that all players have at some point? I think he has the tools and the attitude to succeed, but time can sometimes be a messy equalizer.
  8. Time for MLB to make a change to the rule about position players pitching. Maybe not before 8th inning and even then not unless you're down by 10 or more? I understand why Francona put him in but it became a joke of a game in the 6th? And Rocco also putting Castro in the 9th? IMO it just was a mockery.
  9. Although I was bummed to lose Arraez, I felt at the time it was a good trade. As good as Louis was he was expendable. Lopez looks like he can be an ace, and should be for quite a while. This FO has missed on a few decisions (like Gallo and many of the starters in the last couple years) but this looks to be a great deal.
  10. I keep reading posts that want to trade Polo. I think that would be a huge mistake. When healthy he's one of the best hitters on the team and has been for several years now. IMO he's a keeper. Julian should be moved to either 1st or OF.
  11. IF it is just stiff from lack of playing, I let him play in St. Paul. However, if he continues to have problems with the pain I'd leave him on the IL.
  12. Yep, bullpen is going to be pretty thin at the top Sunday. It sure would be nice if the Twins could get a big lead early, and have Kenta go 6 or 7.
  13. Looks to me like Atlanta is the best team in the league.
  14. I didn't hear about the forearm tightness, so I couldn't help but wonder how the reaction would be on this site if say Gray or Lopez were pulled like that. I was a little surprised they didn't try to get another inning out of Ryan, but I guess they are trying to keep his innings and workload down after coming off the DL. No more of seeing guys throwing well over 200 innings like the good old days!
  15. Martin and Lee haven't shown they can hit at this level yet. Julian has. The kid is working on his defense at 2nd and the eye test tells me there has been improvement. IMO it would take a pretty good pitcher or 2 for a trade. I think a lot depends on who the Twins bring back in the rotation. This FO doesn't like to risk much for RP's, so and that to me is the biggest need at this point going into the off season.
  16. I'm not so sure Solano will be gone. His hitting and versatility could keep him here.
  17. I don't know if they can count on Stewart, but I think between Paddock and Varland there is some hope. Add in probably the 2 starters not scheduled and that leaves Duran, Jax, Thielbar, and Pagan which should be able to survive a 3 game series. After that is anybody's guess.
  18. The help for Cleveland is blocking the Twins from getting any of the relievers.
  19. Quality starters trying to transition to relief could be a big help, but only if Rocco (and the FO) can depend on them and use them in high leverage situations. If Buxton can hit and play OF and AK stay healthy for the stretch run scoring runs should come a lot easier. This race to the finish isn't done yet, though so many feel it is.
  20. I think a pitch to contact type was probably getting a lot of benefit from the shift.
  21. Don't write off Polo. He's still one of the Twins best hitters. Either Lee or Lewis would play OF or 1st depending on AK's health.
