  1. He will have to prove himself before I can say he is worth 11 mil. The positions he plays are well fortified with Miranda, Farmer and Solano, at a much more reasonable price. I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like another poor investment into a possible strikeout king.
  2. Good game. Rocco managed well. I think as the season progresses he would leave Lopez in to finish the 6th, but with an off day Fri, he wanted to get some work in for more.
  3. I would feel the most comfortable with Duran coming in to close out the 9th. Think Nathan. They could then use Lopez as the "fireman" to get out of tight spots in the 7th or 8th.
  4. If he doesn't win at least 81 games he should be gone IMO.
  5. IMO 6 innings should be the expected norm. Any more than that is a bonus. I don't care if its 1 out with a runner on in the 5th and the top of the order coming to bat. Let the starters get thru it, have confidence and let them build confidence. How can anybody prove to be worthy if not given a chance? If they prove they can't do the job several times move on. Either move to the pen, send down to the minors or release them.
  6. An avg. of 6IP per start should be the norm for these guys. Last year was horrible. It was like they said get me thru the lineup twice and take a shower, no matter how they were performing.
  7. I can get on board with Duran and Buxton (though I think he should get more) but the other 2 seem like pretty long odds.
  8. I get the impression that they don't want him playing outfield until the weather heats up. Probably a good idea. Hopefully by early to mid May he can get out in the field more.
  9. He should make the cut. Improved command is a must but even as is, he should make the team.
  10. I'd like to see it played every other year. It was a good break from watching a bunch of minor leaguers in spring training.
  11. To generate more revenue, they must generate more interest. In this market that means a winning team. IMO, the Twins management has provided the pieces to win, at least above .500%. Now where I am a bit concerned is, do they have a field management team capable of putting those pieces together to exceed the expectations? So far not, so lets see if that changes this season. Otherwise, it is probably time for a change.
  12. The main concern for me is the lack of control this spring. I don't know if he's trying to work on throwing or gripping a little different as many guys do, or if he just hasn't got the feel back. I would guess he will get at least 4-5 starts to see if there is some improvement. Otherwise, they will move him into the pen or IL him.
  13. He has played thru almost all of them until last year. Polo is a true gamer.
  14. As long as Francona is mgr. this team will compete. IMO he is a real difference maker, one of the few left in the game today!
  15. I hate the new Logo on the caps. Uniforms are OK, but I don't see how they will help the team in any way. For me it comes down to the actual product, the players and the way they perform.
  16. If he can stay healthy, which has been a problem in his short career.
  17. Ober has been pitching 2 innings at time this spring with excellent results. Move him to the pen!
  18. If they can work something out with Maeda to put him into the pen as a setup guy (not long relief) to build up arm strength that would be ideal. Otherwise I would use Ober in the pen to be a setup guy along side of Jax. Either one could be moved into the rotation if and when an injury hits, or used in spot starts.
  19. If he keeps up with his conditioning (as I assume he is) I see no real need to play in many spring games. I assume he will get in a few the last couple weeks now, but these early games (that don't matter a bit) would be moot.
  20. Concerned about Gallo's hitting. I hope working with a new hitting coach can help him.
  21. I'm not so worried at 2B yet, wait to see how Polo does. #b I have no idea about Miranda's defense. They do have some youngsters that could fill either or both spots if needed.
  22. AK should start in St. Paul. When he is ready physically, he needs to be ready mentally, and that requires him to play thru it all. Better to have him in AAA for a few weeks to convince himself that ha can get thru the stiffness or ache that he seems to be feeling. Its a long season, so giving him an extra 2 to 6 weeks would be best for him and the team IMHO.
  23. Looks like Silva has potential. Don't have any info on defense which is so important at catcher.
