  1. Great to see him bounce back some after the terrible year he had in 2023.
  2. I believe Lee is the future at 2nd. I'd like to see Julian moved to 1st in St. Paul because He will hit, or at least he has at every level until this year. A platoon of some sort with Julian and Miranda at 1st makes sense to me. Next season will probably loose Kepler, Margot and Santana. Hopefully they can do something about the pen at the trade deadline. If not then, at least in the off season. Next year looks better than this year IMO.
  3. Very few would have gotten to that ball, but he did. I thimk 90% of the time he holds onto that.
  4. I don't see either one as a possibility. As mickster said the cost the twins would have to pay for a half year just doesn't seem wise. I also can't see the Pohlads spending that much on the salary side.
  5. So far so good. If he can stay off the IL he should be in the MVP talk. Now, if he stays healthy, we'll see how he does over the next couple of months. IMO he has the talent, tools, and desire to be one of the top hitters in the MLB.
  6. I would skip Paddack this turn to give him and his arm a little break. With the off day the rest of the staff would stay on normal days of rest.
  7. My wife says the Twins look like pajamas. No way would I pay the kind of money they're asking for a jersey!
  8. Thats a NO from me. He's an elite relief pitcher on a team that has problems developing them!
  9. I heard it said many times during Radke's career that the 1st inning problem was finding the release point. Many years ago during a game that Randy Johnson was pitching, the analyst commented that tall and lanky guys had a harder time finding that release point. I wonder if that's a problem for Ober?
  10. As I see it the Twins need at least 6 quality, dependable relievers in the pen. Right now they have 4. Duran, Jax, Alcala, and Staumont. That means they need at least 2 more, plus a couple of "long men". I can live with Sands and Okert for long men. That's why I would put Varland out there and hope we get Stewart and Topa healthy. Now that would be a pretty decent pen. I know they want to keep Varland stretched out, but IMO, they need to either put him in for Paddack and move Paddack to the pen or Varland in the pen. If something comes up to where they need a spot start or 2 they could pull someone up from AAA or have a bullpen day.
  11. I hate to say they probably will need to move on soon. Give him a few more low pressure outings and if he still has problems DFA him.
  12. As I understand things he's losing some velo by trying to keep the ball down. The question is does he try to keep it down or is it down in the zone due to the loss of velo?
  13. Looks like Miranda is who I thought he would be . Last season was the outlier due to injury, but he has hit at every level. Now he is making the adjustments to the higher quality MLB pitchers. He's an important piece of the club moving forward.
  14. Does anyone remember how this was supposed to be one of if not the best pen in the league? I didn't drink that kool-aid and looks like I was right. Duran, Jax, Alcala, and Staumont just can't pitch everyday. Rumor has it they are re-calling Funderburk, but maybe they should also get Varland up as a reliever. Maybe he wants to keep starting, but the team needs him more in the pen at this time!
  15. I will enjoy watching this incredible hot streak he's on. At some point he will cool off, but for now its great to watch!
  16. Kind of looks like they only can depend on Duran, Jax, Staumont, and Alcala at this point. Thielbar and Jackson have no business being on the roster at this point. Okert and Sands are iffy.
  17. Looking at next season they will be minus Margot, Farmer, probably Santana and Kepler. That leaves room for Lee, and Wallner, keeps Martin as 4th outfielder, allows time for Miranda and possibly AK, if he can ever stay healthy. that leaves Larnach, Buxton, and Wallner for OF. Miranda/AK, Lee, Correa, Lewis in the IF. So IMO it is important to keep Castro. After all, look at these players and think, how many IL trips there are, and who can fill those spots better than Castro?
  18. No way would I gamble trading Jax for a prospect, especially one who hasn't looked ready for the majors yet. Beside that, its starting to look more and more like Wallner has figured something out, and they don't have to give anything to get him.
  19. I admit I was shocked when they signed him. I figured he was pretty much at or even below replacement value. I may end up eating crow, which is OK if he keeps hitting as well as he has for the last 4-5 weeks.
