I really don't get the thinking behind the Rule 5 picks. It just seems so wasteful. If you are going to keep a roster space for someone and think they have some value, just make a deal. Why don't teams just do that? Maybe I'm being simplistic and really don't understand how these things work, and at least this didn't go on for longer (but is that really an optimistic take?), but I just don't get it.

Will Gordon move up to Rochester? Or is this move so short lived they don't want to do that yet?

Enns was part of the Garcia flip, wasn't he? I think he was kind of a "throw in", the major piece was Littell...looks like Enns was indeed just window dressing after all.

Petit, a journeyman. Guess that's the right move, veteran, etc. Would have loved to see Gordon get a shot, move Esco to 3rd for a few games. Oh well.

Well, this is uninspiring (regarding Petit) but probably the appropriate move here if you look at the Red Wings roster.

I think the bigger news here is that Gonsalves should now be able to stick in the AAA rotation, which is where he belongs (at least until a potential call up).

Kinley gave up nine earned runs while recording 10 outs for the Twins. He was removed from the 25-man roster, giving the Miami Marlins the opportunity to bring him back, though it's a little surprising the Twins couldn't work out a trade to keep Kinley in the org.

Rule 5 trades like that are pretty rare, I think. I don't think Kinley is worth enough for the Twins to offer much, but he's also useful enough as a non-40-man depth piece for the Marlins not to give him away either.

I mean, he's just up to sit on the bench for hopefully a week. No point in adding someone like Gordon to the roster for a short-term stint.

Nope. Rochester just sent out a release saying Sean Miller has been promoted from Chattanooga, so I'm assuming that'll be their IF replacement.

What's Enns going to do? He's behind the current 5 starters, plus Mejia, plus possibly Gonsalves, plus Ervin Santana and Trevor May hopefully in the not too distant future.

They are both probably DFA fodder, but Magill is perhaps a little more useful at the present moment.

I have been trying to figure out how this will work out and your lineup was like a hit in the head. Much worse when I actually see it. This team really hesitates to give its players with potential the opportunity fo try out in the major leagues. I am redundant from other posts, but Gordon is either our future or trade bait. Get him in there.

How about LaMonte Wade instead of Grossman? He can field and he can get walks!

More important at this point is the history of injuries and DL time for Buxton and Sano is starting to develop a very bad pattern. Sano has to move to DH and we need to build our bench around the potential absence of each of them during the year.

Last awful thought - Morrison, Ehire, and Petit - 1/3 of our lineup is almost an automatic out. Without Dozier or Sano and with Morrison still in hibernation we are lacking in power threats. Can't wait for Rooker to get going and start pressing for the majors.

I don't get some of these decisions. It's not like I know better ... because I really, truly don't ... but wouldn't it make sense to push Gordon just a little, even if he has to go back in 10 days? Or do they want him moving up only when it's a permanent move? Seems to me he's not getting opportunity here. And I could just be crabby about the whole state of things and that clouds my judgement.

I'm starting to get on board the "time to find a long term 3B" bus. Sano may have a cannon for an arm, but he's a subpar defender (so say the metrics) and he can't stay healthy. Maybe they teach him to be 1B, but until then he might be destined for DH'ing.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Twins traded him over the 2018-2019 offseason. Yes, I know I'm projecting very far out here, and his trade value is low at the moment, but I feel like this FO is going to move him at some point.

Also, I'd like to see Nick Gordon get up here. We're down two starting infielders, and this offense can't afford to have both Adrianza and Petit in the lineups.

Also, I knew that Enns was not a MLB caliber starter, but I would have liked to see him in the bullpen and see if he gained any juice throwing in the 'pen. It seems like our best relievers are usually failed starters, so I would have rather liked to see Magill DFA'd.

The elephant in the room: Sanó's weight/conditioning.

Guy is about to turn 25, but is somewhat of a wreck physically. 116 is the most games in a season for him in the majors.

His legs are barking. He becomes dubious as a long-term asset when he can't even stay healthy running out ground balls.

He should be at his peak right now, but I'm not seeing it.

BTW, I know the elbow and the shin weren't his fault.

Are there any reports on defense this year? Looks like he has a few errors, but better than last year's rate. I'd like to see him get a shot soon but no way they'll burn an option and a 40 man roster spot for him if they think he'll be booting balls around the middle infield.
