That leaves thirty percent unaccounted for and Rocco and Falvey are gone.. Linus, Blyleven2011, Brock Beauchamp and 3 others 4 2

Patzky Old-Timey Member Posted March 29 Posted March 29 By the home weekend we'll have more accurate verdicts. Early returns say replacing Lee with Culpeper and Larnach with Roden would yield immediate results. mrtwinsfan 1

bunsen82 Verified Member Posted March 29 Posted March 29 If this was the 2023 2024 Baily Ober I would be pretty optimistic. I just really think Ober is already breaking down physically and needs that velocity to remain in the 92 to 94 range to be successful. 89 mph or less isn't going to cut it.

bunsen82 Verified Member Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I guess if Ober is our #5 effectively it is what it is. As a top 3 I think Ryan, Abel and Bradley could be a really strong trio. SWR can be a solid to above average #4 and then that leaves Ober. We will see what the plan is with Festa is when he comes back. If not is Matthews the next starter up? Personally his stuff hasn't been great the last year or so, and small sample size but he got hit pretty good yesterday as well.

Until he can command his stuff with consistency he will continue to be a back of the rotation pitcher who probably should move to the bullpen. If Abel builds off his strong spring he will be fun to watch but let's see what happens now that it counts.

A #5 pitcher doesn't fan 9 batters out of 13 outs nor throw 100 mph and have a good curve ball, splitter and slider. He has some things to work on, but he legit has the stuff to be elite. He worked hard that 1st inning but he kept us in the game. I stand by it like I did at the trade deadline. I really like Bradley and Abel. Bradley needed to grow up, get serious about being a pitcher, do the homework, take care of his body and continue to work on his craft. Abel just needed another opportunity and to continue to improve. They are young and don't have a long track record of above average or elite production, but the stuff is there and both appear to be on the right track.

Off-speed, too, up in the zone. And those are the pitches you want to hit. It’s early in the year. I believe our guys would be on time for those and make the adjustment, but I like our at-bats up and down. We made Taj work. Taj has really good stuff on the mound. His split was firmer than what we’re accustomed to, what I’m accustomed to, but we had really good at-bats. We just couldn’t get the big hit today.” https://www.masnsports.com/blog/entry/bradish-takes-loss-in-2026-debut-nunez-makes-most-of-major-league-debut/
stringer bell Verified Member Posted March 29 Posted March 29 At 89-90, Ober’s margin for error is pretty small, but I wouldn’t count him out, even if the velo stays where it is. Keep it out of the middle of the plate and let the hitters get themselves out. I’d like to see more tha single-digit hits today and some knocks with RISP.

bunsen82 Verified Member Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Unless Ober's velocity increases 1 of Priellip or Rojas are the likely pitchers to take his spot. Maybe Matthews settles down. But those 2 have the best stuff. I will be laughing if Rojas Bradley and Abel are leading us to the playoffs after the consternation after the tradeline last year. There are 2 threads I might be bumping regularly lol.

bunsen82 Verified Member Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Ober broke 90 mph barrier barely, couldn't do that in his last 2 spring training starts. Can he dial it up to 92, just maybe?

bunsen82 Verified Member Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I'll take that for the 1st inning of Ober. 1 K, ended on weak contact. 1 walk to Alonso. 18 pitches. Can he get us through 5 inning?

bunsen82 Verified Member Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Wallner with a hit to Center with 2 strikes - Bell HBP with 2 ball count. Caratini - move them over and lets see us get 2 runs in.
Danchat Verified Member Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Bases loaded no outs... Twins teams in recent years have really stunk in these situations. Let's see if this squad is any better at it.
bunsen82 Verified Member Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Caratini with the hit to load the bags. We need 2+ runs this inning. Come on Larnach.
bunsen82 Verified Member Posted March 29 Posted March 29 LOL- larnach with the weak hit that scores the run and gets on base - how does that happen??? Watching on gamecast
