If he wants to be a key reason why a team wins a championship he needs to get out of here ASAP. But money talks, as we see all the time in other sports. Myles Garrett wrote many paragraphs requesting a trade from the Cleveland Browns because he can’t see winning a Super Bowl with them. But he was offered $40 million a year and weird! Now he thinks he can be a key piece to a championship team in Cleveland.

I don’t envision the Twins offering Joe a 6/$180 million deal to make amends with him

It’s impossible to figure out what motivates these professional athletes. Some want the big pay check, some want to be treated fairly because winning is the motivation… the best hate to lose and make everyone around them better, harder in baseball…. But watching this current team more than I should, they just seem to be going through the motions.

Wallner silencing the naysayers like me

The bat plays, but he should never have a glove in his possession; as pure a DH as we have seen.

I don't agree. He's not that bad in RF IYAM.

Phillies fans asking the same thing

Last 7 games Kepler is batting .380 with slugging .520.

Pitch anyone. I wouldn’t consider it codling with Ryan because he’d never ask for it. (And maybe they have approached him on the subject?) More protecting an investment rather having him rack up innings in games that don’t matter. Although, if you know you’re going to be unloading him…

They claim we will have a six or seven man rotation soon. That's fine.

Buxton’s happy…not a peep out of him .... If winning something…ever…is high on his professional priority list, it doesn’t show much.

He is relegated to an afterthought, just like Trout. Never see WS.

Trevor Plouffe and Trevor May mention this often on their podcasts online. 99% of professional players work to set their family up for life. After that, then winning a championship matters. Money always talks

I'm not remembering anyone who is worse out there. I understand Wallner has his fans, which is good for him. I would prefer to watch Keirsey Jr. make outs rather than see Wallner lope around helplessly. I can live with others preferring Big Matt. Ryan, among others, are not enamored to see him in the lineup as an outfielder. Why not just use him as a DH?

Yes, after your first 100 million or so, you’d think it would shift a bit toward the latter.

Agree....although Buxton has been a quiet person his whole career...read Lewis' interview today...quite different

Absolutely. $100 million sets up generations of future family members. Very few reach that point in their professional careers. Until they reach F You money, they’re taking the most amount of money they can get no matter what that organization’s championship expectations are.
