Nice job by Lopez.  He was in control throughout!!  Good win Twins.  Sunday could be tougher.  Braves coming in on Monday.  Starting Monday Cleveland and KC play each other 7 of the next 10 games.  Go Twins

Which one of his 15 prior AB's against LH pitching did Rocco decide that he now trusts him.

Is this a question? I'm not sure what you want here. Is it only a prior plate appearance that would signal readiness, or does the staff have multitudes more information than you and I to make such a decision? Maybe they simply liked the matchup. Management, including Rocco, the front office and the coaches, do not platoon every batter. They do platoon left handers more often, but not Kepler. From their track record and with Kepler most likely gone after the season, it makes sense they will groom at least one more left handed batter to face leftys regularly. They can't platoon everybody.

It may be that Rocco has finally realized that Margot is not a substantial upgrade in the outfield.

Henriquez has clearly outpitched Winder this season.

Winder has pitched in 4 games in the Show in ‘24 - 9 total innings - not a big sample size, given.

3.00 ERA - WHIP of .889 - He’s got 10 K’s & 1 walk. Not much to be critical about there.

I like Ronny & have been pushing for him at various spots during the year…..7 total innings in the Show over 6 games.

3.86 ERA - WHIP of 1.286 - He’s got 6 K’s & 1 walk. Good performances as well.

Both had one bad outing.

Don’t see anything here. or when I watched them both throw that has me believing Ronny has “clearly outpitched Winder” in ‘24.

Bring back Correa & Buxton, ready or not.

Kirilloff and Ryan are 2 that you've commented on how the Twins handled them. Kirilloff forced to the outfield and Ryan overused due to not having Varland in the pen. So now you advocate rushing back Correa and Buxton.

Or maybe he just didn't want to answer the post-game question that was sure to be asked.

Ryan “overused” is not really a thing. Not heard that from anyone else anywhere ……and blaming it on Varland needing to stay stretched out until September doesn’t have anything to do with Ryan’s injury.

Rushing guys back v. them getting hurt in the normal course of playing is different! Definitely agree there should be no playing guys immediately if they are not ready to perform.

The good doctor suggested that Ryan's injury was from overuse and could have prevented if Varland was in the pen. It was in the Varland to the pen article.

If the throw is on target, Martin is out there. Manufacturing runs is great, but it felt like the risk was a little higher than I'd like. I was 60/40 on him being thrown out when he turned that corner. He made it happen, though!

Especially with one out. Glass half full is he put pressure on the defense. Half empty is he is going to get thrown out on that play too much of the time.

I was at the game last night and was sitting behind the dugout and am wondering if Rocco was in the dugout.  Letting Larnach hit against a LH would indicate he wasn't.

Winder has a 6.16 ERA in AAA in 41 innings. Henriquez has a 3.44 ERA in 55 innings. Henriquez would have to give up 11 runs in his next inning to match Winder's performance.

The offense had been moribund from the day before up until his AB.  That’s the kind of effort that sparks a team. The team needed that. Badly.

What team have you been watching.  They absolutely do platoon every LH batter.  The only reason Kepler has started recently against LH pitching is because Buxton is on the IL and they have to start a LH hitting OF.  This is why Margot is 0 for in pinch hitting because they have decided all LH batters can't hit LH pitching.  This team holds to a very rigid belief in splits and has not developed any of their LH batters to hit against lefties.  This is why Santana leads the team in AB's because he switch hits, not because of performance against RH pitching.  The whole basis of their operation is to platoon as many positions as possible.

Awful lot of plate appearances against lefties in his career for a platoon guy.
